I think they draft Levshunov with the second and possibly Michael Hage with the 18th. I would love to see them draft Freij and Tanner Howe. Could you image a line with Howe and Savoi? - bjphawkfan
I’ll take that, let’s see what KD does. |

Demidov Hage at 18 if they don't trade it to get necas ej emery at 34 and 50 is traded in some kind of package deal for something else. Imo - Scott1977
That’s who I am hoping for too:
#2 - Demidov (I won’t lose sleep with they pick Levshunov)
#18 - Hage (Eiserman and Brandsagg-Nygard are good options too)
#34 - Emery (if he’s available)
#50 - Sam O’Reilly or Colton Roberts

#15 - Catton - trade up from #18 when Catton slides
#34 - Charlie Elick
#50 - Terik Paraczak

If Catton is available at #15 it’s definitely worth trading up, but it might cost #50 or a future second round pick. |

Try for adding Dallas #2 next year. Also, no way Stevie Y. is helping out CHI. Maybe San Jose at #14. I can see Catton dropping to #15 but not any farther. Something like Zach Benson last year.
Although 2012 was not a stellar draft year, and Teuvo fell all the way to #18 (and #16, #17, and #19 were all-stars). Smurfs slide easier than the big guys.

I think it will be difficult for the Hawks to move up from #18. San Jose doesn’t need extra picks, they need quality as much as the Hawks do. Same goes for Detroit, St Louis and Washington. I’m not saying KD couldn’t get it done, but a trade would be costly. |

Likely you are right. Depends on what somebody thinks Catton's ceiling is. I doubt KD likes the idea as much as I would. Catton's probably not the droid they're looking for this year.

If the Hawks hold onto #18 I’m hoping more and more they can get Hage. He had a very good season despite some major obstacles - injury plus the passing of his father. He seems to be a character kid with lots of skill, and he’s likely more of an NHL centre than Nazar or Moore. |

Haven't seen him live or on tape, but given all the positive reviews it seems like he might be the KD target - just sounds like a CHI pick, high ceiling, good all-around game, going to a B1G school, .....

Agreed and like last year, probably too costly for KD. I'm guessing he made his best deal when he went from 20 to 18. |

Then i guess you can't make trades either, because they did trade their good players for draft picks. So no team can actively get better via trade. Unless it's approved by you. - BetweenTheDots

I think someone will take him at 9-11 or so - maybe Calgary if they miss out on Iginla? He has good size and really showed out in the playoffs. Think he has passed Catton - Buffalo probably won't take Catton because they got a similar player in Benson last year. I only saw a couple of his games and he looked to be improving quickly.
Really a mystery where guys will fall - I think CHI will get a bargain at #18.

I just am afraid he will be gone, because he is a fierce competitor, and is very toigh to play against. I hope the red wings are happy with Kasper and Davidson as their centres and go a different direction, but in a draft with so few real centres, that might not be case. This kid elevates evetyones games.

Say emery sitting there at 28 take 50th and 3rd and 5th and move to 28 |

What's the over/under on McDavid tonight? 3 points?
FLA needs to get a lead and maybe they can lock this down. Don't want that game 7 pretty much random outcome. |

I agree that the team played hard, that wasn’t and isn’t my point. My point isn’t directed at KD, he took advantage of the situation, as he should. My point is the rule that encourages a team to intentionally lose games hurts the integrity of league and the sport. No team should be rewarded for intentionally losing. If there’s no reward to being the, or one of the, worst teams then teams would have no reason to tank. - paulr
I have the solution for you Paul. Get rid of the draft. Raise the entry age 19 or something and then teams have to sell the youngsters on the quality of the team and the opportunity available to them. Absolutely zero impact from tanking. |

That might be a bargain if he is on the straight and narrow path. Wonder if they would risk it. |
