It's amazing how the choice for second overall pick mirrors American politics

It's the politics of India, not the economics. I don't believe I was talking about the economics, though if that is where you went, you might want to look more on the politics than the economics.
- wizardofi

Well the economics has a huge bearing on the politics, but you're right i know nothing of India and their politics.

All i know people female dog and moan about taxes, our government and so on but as far as I'm concerned I'm glad i live here.

There's no need to bid against ourselves. Peg (frank)ed up and didn't make McG feel like he would be an important addition to the team.

I'm definitely not giving Murphy, Reichel and 18 for him. Like Necas or anyone else my trade will be conservative and what's best for the Blackhawks. Last thing i want to do is make a trade where my addition to the team is actually a subtraction to the org.

- BetweenTheDots

Too much value for what we receive. Ok maybe you are correct

I remember when our Canadian politics were you would vote for who would improve our life the most, now, it's who will do the least amount of damage. Americans, please, choose the one who objectively will do the least amount of damage to where you are in life now.

If Leveshunov and Owen Power were in the same draft? Which one would you take?
- LAHawk

LA, I saw Power live with the Steel maybe 25 times the two yrs he was with the club. Once he signed a tender (a kinda free agent that USHL teams can select/negotiate with a 16 yr old and sign him bypassing the draft)... Power is/was a really big, 6ft 5in or so, can skate and is silky smooth so he was on all the lists since he was a youngster (12-13 yrs old) but honestly I never saw much more than a big smooth guy who has +skating.

I'm not what you call a Power guy and haven't been since I sought out his minor hockey in Canada to watch him as a 15 yr old. I had access to most all minor/midget and youth hockey thru an expensive Hockey TV subscription. His Canadian minor team came in to play powerhouse Mission. On that team he wasn't even on the 1st unit PP.

I miss on these guys, I just do. I see Levshunov's floor as an Ekblad. Has an edge Power doesn't, will play more physical than Power and is probably better offensively. ....... I'm guessing if they came out together I'd rank Levshunov higher than Power.

If Levshunov is projected as a number one defenseman or even a top pairing guy it will be difficult to pass him by.
- paulr

If demidov is the second best forward it would be hard to pass him up. To me, levshunov is not even the best d man available.

Me:
Not sure what this means.

Firstly I do not lie.

I have never been in Aurora either, but I do not live in California, thought at first this was some matrix related thing, blue pilled and all.
If some mother f u c k e r (that would be you) writes something, I want to be sure I understand what they are saying to me, and it looks like if I am translating correctly you are calling me a name to chastize me, correct me, stop, me...

It never worked ....talking down to my own kids never worked worked when I added a reprimand at the end, like "sit down at the dinner table, jerfoff."

And after teaching 36 years I can say teacher calling names at students or insults kinda severs any chance they will learn from you. Where this started was me saying that what someone posted was kinda stupid, not that the eprson was stupid.

You obviously found this important enough to bring back up so much later than the posts, and I wasn't feigning or untruthfully saying so.

We all make mistake, but I will gladly wiling get us to a place it can buried.

(You can PM or I will PM you y home phone)

The pill was what got me...i realize now you were calling me a California Liberal (blue State) but the pill thing...still dunno now.
But I guess that was a political insult chatizing politrics on the board, so THAT didn't solve it, did it?

This has been my stance all along, that Levshunov will be so hard for anyone to pass up while he's on the board. Big right shot D that plays physical and skilled, that can skate and had a fine true freshman season in the NCAA. Add the kid has only been on this continent for 2 yrs and not only has he adapted to the small ice he's adapted to the language and culture in such a short time.

You like Iginla that much? Think he has even a chance to end up the best player outside of Celebrini? ........

Curious if you have a thought on this, Steve? Have you paid attention to or researched what is the most successful number of players to have as a core and ideally what is the breakdown of a core?

For example a 4 man core consisting of 2 centers and 2 Dmen, or 1 center, 2 Dmen and a wing? ........ Or, ideally the percentage of the cap that is eaten up by a core?

And, I wonder if organIzations build/draft their squad in accordance with the organIzational beliefs/model of core building or just draft BPA and adjust their philosophy by the development of the pipeline?

- Mr Ricochet

Thanks for the back and forth. Great questions. I have not watched any of the prospects enough to say who is going to be the best once the Hawks are ready to contend. Not a cop out but an admission of not putting in the time. What I like about Iginla is the DNA. I did get thrown out of UC the night the Hawks won the lottery for Kane. I liked Brandon Sutter for his DNA and the fans sitting around me did not want to hear it. They were right. Would have been worst the Daigle pick. My wife was pregnant with my son at the time which obviously has been the greatest joy of our life so there is that.

I love the debate about how a Stanley Cup winning team should be built. I don't think it is a formula of XYZ.

Whoever wins tonight is the opposite of the loser. Oilers are built through the draft but would be playing golf without Janmark-Henrique-Brown. Panthers are built through impressive trading/FAs but also would be out without Barkov and Ekblad.

I dislike the copy cat nature of the game where teams chase the composition of the last year's winner. Or the thought that the Hawks are trying to rebuild a Kane and Toews type team.

The Hawks are so far from being in the debate that they have to stockpile the best players available and we have to hope they have the ability to eventually trade the pieces to put together a contender.

Watching the Finals is a kick in the teeth for me. Hawks gave away Perry for nothing and he scored a huge goal. Janmark brought a 2 and 3 but will Dach 2 and Savoie pan out? Forsling for deHaan? Zito was here in Chicago for years while he was running his agency. He was willing to give up his agency and work for nothing to get a chance to put his name on the Cup. Columbus figured out he had something special and he slipped through the cracks here.

Last year's draft in Nashville was the most optimistic event I have ever been to. Bedard brought so much hope. The kids getting drafted and their families were so happy to be around. The NHL people we talked to were ready to talk about anything because nobody was under pressure. Stenberg's dad told me 2 hours before the draft that he was the most nervous he had ever been. When the kid got drafted he looked as happy as I have ever seen anyone. Should be a fun few days.

The proposed trade package from the Jets would send Ehlers and McGroarty to Chicago in exchange for defenseman Connor Murphy, forward Lukas Reichel, and a 2024 first-round pick from the New York Islanders.

If this is possibly true, it wouldn't take much for me to say yes.

Chunk, I'm assuming you don't know that Fox Ruse Whorehouse settled a defamation suit with Dominion Voting Machines for SEVEN HUNDRED EIGHTY SEVEN MILLION bucks!!!!! And The Whorehouse is currently being sued by Smartmatic for the knowingly false filth it pushed........ If you are a Whorehouse viewer I understand your not knowing about these woke facts cuz they don't talk about it much over there.

As soon as you see other organIzations paying off a billion in settlements for KNOWINGLY peddling filth gimme a heads up and I'll agree on the "both sides" argument a fascist would claim.

A Ruse viewer would also not know emails uncovered during the TRIAL for peddling filth, as I pointed out they settled for a few bucks short of a BILLION and not found guilty by a woke jury, showed ole Pucker's own emails say he despises the 6 time bankrupt, vagina grabbing, charity thief while at the same time advocating for him on air......... I'd link this up but you know, the both sides woke media thingy. Instead of relying on a woke Reuters, for instance, who was there on the ground during the Civil War, maybe check court documents. Oh wait, the courts are corrupt too, can't do that. Can't rely on any reporting, can't trust court documents, FBI is corrupt so it must have never happened?

Yea Chunk, let me know when emails are uncovered at any organIzation where its employees go on the air saying the exact opposite, lying, than what they privately believe and we can play the both sides lie fraud.

Half the country are rubes?? The last poll I saw 50% of the country thinks Sadam was involved in 9-11. Think it was VBear who posted a judge said, "I know it when I see it". Indeed ....... You better believe Ruse News works, and in spades.

But I'm 100% down with you, and others, walking around spouting "the both sides" argument. If we can get just enough people to believe that we are on the path of fixing Lincoln's mistake and giving the confederacy their country they'll never ever ever stop fighting for and build that beautiful, magnificent, wonderful, DEVINE wall along the Mason Dixon Line that can be seen from space...... Everyone wins and not a bullet fired!!

And, probably most importantly, Chunk, any time content is provided, I guess name calling fits, so a few of the fellas here can exhibit their Saturday Night Live level writing/cleverness/wit/off the charts intellect they use to roll over the dregs with that strengthens their bond is a good thing.

- Mr Ricochet

Oh, I haven't really changed at all except for dropping Parekh on my board. Sky high offensive ceiling but with the #2 sky high risk.. I'm still ok with them drafting D!ckinson, Buium, Levshunov or Lindstrom at #2 but have dropped Parekh of that list.

I have Demidov as the BPA, Buium is who I hope they pick and think they draft Levshunov. ...... But, my desire on draft day is they draft Demidov and come on that night and KD says we are nearly 100% positive he'll come over in a yr or two after talking to the kid, his agent and every resource/contact we have in Europe thinks he'll come over too.

You?

- Mr Ricochet

I'd be good with Demidov or any of who you've listed. Have some concerns with Lindstrom but if KFC and staff and crew say he checks out health wise just have to hope that's the case.

I hope they draft Celebrini, but they will end up with Levshunov. Four days to go. The Hawks HB page is more hockey informative than any other site in HB, that’s due to many of you and what you bring with your knowledge and all the research behind the scenes, let’s keep it that way. Thank you.

Some of us here like and others don't like the rumored trade of McGroatry & Ehlers for Reichel, Murphy and #18.

I'm not sure if Carolina thinks Murphy is a fit on their team. But for discussion sake let's say he is. Would anyone trade that package for Necas? Or Reichel, #18 and one of the defense prospects?

This from Dave Pagnotta's column at The Fourth Period.

At least eight teams have expressed serious interest in Zegras, including the Chicago Blackhawks, New York Rangers, Montreal Canadiens, Philadelphia Flyers, Ottawa Senators, Nashville Predators, Calgary Flames and Buffalo Sabres, and I believe other clubs have also been in the mix.

Regarding the specific asking price, it varies team-by-team and so far, nobody will elaborate on the specific demands aside from emphasizing it’s a “big price.”

...

Chicago is another team I’m keeping my eye on this week. The Blackhawks are looking to add a top-line winger and have a few irons in the fire, beyond interest in Zegras.

Michkov is headed to Philly one season after being drafted. I thought he had a three year contract. Apparently he is "terminating" his contract two years early. How is this possible?

"SKA chairman Alexander Medvedev said that the club has good relations with the Flyers front office and will consider letting Michkov depart for the NHL before his contract ends."

Translation? The Flyers paid SKA.....

The fact is you watch prospects for tendencies, does he shy from tough areas, does he avoid contact, does he give up possession to avoid a hit? My only point is whatever player KD is looking for project as a “playoff or regular season guy”?
- paulr

In the limited highlights I've seen he engages guys physically to win puck battles in the neutral zone.
