is he any good though? so far you mentioned size and ice time, which neither tell me if he is any good.

he will be on his 3rd team already.

- senstroll

no idea. was a second round pick. Flames lost Zadorov, Hanifin and Tanev in one season. need some size back there and hes cheap

thats a very specific ask from the Flames. never heard of a team only wanting age 23 and 6'6
- senstroll

someone young and tall is needed to get those cookies way up there.

Fun fact time for those campaigning for PLD

He is a problem child and by all accounts a poopty teammate and you can't even say he brings more to the table than someone like JT.

JT had more goals, assists and points than PLD in less games this past regular season.

JT - 29 goals / 36 A in 80 games

PLD - 16 goals / 24 A in 82 games

Oh wait what about playoffs?

JT - 1 G/ 1 A in 7 games
PLD - 1 G in 5 games

The biggest difference is in penalty minutes.

PLD - 70 PIMs in regular season and 20 in 5 playoff games
JT - 30 PIMs in regular season and 2 in 7 playoff games

Hard no to PLD for me.

- Cush29

I have said previously that I don't like PLD, and I stand by that. But I will say that ironically he could be a guy that would help our team. If you look at the history of players who benefit playing alongside him - it's always non-physical guys who actually play much better with a big guy like PLD making space (In Winnipeg there were noticeable bumps for Kyle Connor, Svechnikov. Even Ehlers and Scheifele had bumps with PLD. In LA he plays almost always with Laferriere, and they didn't always have the best results together - but Laferriere was worse when he wasn't with Dubois.

Now in most of these pairings Dubois is helped by the player's presence as well - like Dubois was better with Connor or Ehlers or Kaliyev, for instance - and their play with him was also better - but maybe not quite as high as it would have been with a more offensive centre.

So as an example Nylander probably benefits from having a PLD on his line. Tavares might, too. Guys who make their own space like Knies and Matthews probably wouldn't see much benefit.

Tavares and PLD played on the same line during the worlds. They look good playing together in my eyes.

Anyone think Markstrom at that price is a huge miss by the Leafs?

I suck at goalie assessments....worse than my PLD take probably.

- underhill14

Leafs didn't have that kind of assets..

No. I think it's fair to assume Tree had a discussion and Markstrom and his full NMC had a preferred destination. Calgary's return looks like there was no bidding war.

Our version of Bahl is maybe Liljegren but not as tempting...and Markstrom would have to waive too.
