Alway find that on page 1 posts. If you delete the very last " symbol from end of the url, and reload the page quotes will work...on pg 1 at least.

Fun fact time for those campaigning for PLD

He is a problem child and by all accounts a poopty teammate and you can't even say he brings more to the table than someone like JT.

JT had more goals, assists and points than PLD in less games this past regular season.

JT - 29 goals / 36 A in 80 games

PLD - 16 goals / 24 A in 82 games

Oh wait what about playoffs?

JT - 1 G/ 1 A in 7 games
PLD - 1 G in 5 games

The biggest difference is in penalty minutes.

PLD - 70 PIMs in regular season and 20 in 5 playoff games
JT - 30 PIMs in regular season and 2 in 7 playoff games

Hard no to PLD for me.

PLD has much lesser line mates in LA than JT. But totally respect that opinion.

TBH not even sure I care much about PLD unless 50% but it was also the chance to get Matt Roy and Brandt Clarke and lose Marner's Cap hit that made the deal more appealing to me.

Still want Roy (UFA) and young Brandt Clarke though....and LAs 1st...over Marner's rising cost. Figured the deal for a "broke playoff" Marner might be more acceptable to another GM if it included a "broke" PLD and I still think PLD as at least a 3C for $4.25 would be great for the Leafs for the next however many years.

It isn't. There's no doubt you play against some rosters that are AHL calibre at best. The principal that one guy who can win board battles or draw bodies to him creates more room for skilled guys to manoeuvre doesn't really change though. PLD is someone who will do that - when he feels like playing.

That said, Drexel isn't really wrong - PLD's inconsistent work ethic coupled with his actual ability to be useful would drive any coach nuts. This is a guy who has had Tortorella for 4 years, Maurice for 2, Rick Bowness for 1 and Todd McLellan this year - he has had some of the best coaches in the NHL and refused to grow his game. I doubt that Berube is the guy who can finally make him a "gud pro".

The point remains that when PLD is on his game he would likely elevate guys like Nylander and Tavares. I don't want an inconsistent project man-baby who has been gifted ice time his entire career just because he's tall though.
