Don't forget Ellis. His contract can always be traded and he would also come off the books in 3 years.

Risto will also be gone in 3 years

It was just a 2 year snapshot, who knows who gets added to that list of junk in the next 2 years.

The downfall for the Flyers has always been "loyalty". Players that look at that "loyalty" and want to come here because of it tend to be the players you don't really want anyway.

Totally agree, loyal to a fault.

They could find a new home for Ellis in the next 2 years. Doubt they will but we can always hope.

If it was up to me I would keep Ellis for the whole contract to remind everyone of the mistake made and not to do it again and again. The fact the Flyers lost that trade by an absolute landslide by giving up an inexpensive high pick with chronic migraine issues and an inexpensive undrafted defenseman says everything about the incompetence scattered through the organization...."loyalty".

It's not a coincidence Johansen magically became injured right after he was traded. It's not like the players ever played together or anything....just bad luck as always.

If NJ, Ottawa and Columbus improve from last season......

The Flyers HAVE TO bottom out and get that top 5 pick (a chance at a lottery pick). If they don't figure out they need that franchise player (I lean more towards center) in next year's draft or maybe the following to get someone like Gavin McKenna they are going to be (frank)ED for the next 10 years.

Michkov is great to have, but they are going no where without that top line that performs every single night. Depth is great when you have that top line, but means nothing when you have to go by committee.

They need to move up to get one of the defenseman this year. Then put themselves in a position to hopefully get one of Hagans or McKenna in ‘25 or ‘26.

Using TK, Farabee, Laughton, or even Sanheim to move up will help them finish lower next season. They have two 1sts and three 2nds in 2025 to help find some good players.

If they move any of the guys above, then I’m perfectly ok with them signing EJ and keeping Cam as “culture” guys for this coming season. Both players will contribute to the Flyers losing which helps them long term by getting a top pick next season.

If that's the case than expect something like a 2nd and maybe a B prospect for TK.
- Glak18

TK is 7 years younger than Markstrom and goalies have a significantly smaller market than skaters. You can’t use this deal to evaluate a potential TK deal.

I'm ok with them using a player of value to move up, but if that means using #12 just to move up a few spots then that better be a sure shot they are getting.

I understand the Flyers are not going to get a top 10 for any of those players alone (probably a mid to late 1st at best), but at this point I don't trust the scouting department to make those decisions to separate the great from the good. The Flyers need to be put in a position that drafts a no-brainer.

It’s really stupid that Lappy is getting an extension and a bunch of praise from Briere when the Phantoms record the past two seasons is a thoroughly mediocre 69-60-9. They only made the playoffs because the AHL has 23 teams out of 32 get in.

I get people are trying to rationalize it, but what Markstrom got is probably the best case for TK. If DB thinks he's going to get more than expect a re-signing very shortly.

Goaltenders are so unpredictable, yet teams still pay the price *mind blown*. Hopefully this works out better than the Cory Schneider trade.

I don’t give two poops about the alumni with what the they’ve done to the franchise. I know it’s not the majority of them but yeah…

Waivers are a required step before a buyout.

If the Flyers were to BO Cam they'd have to put him on waivers as well.

- Tomahawk

And SJ just claimed Goodrow and his 3 yrs at 3.5M contract off waivers. Rangers unload a 4th line player and get full cap space rather then a buyout. Waive Cam forget the optics

Good lord. It is getting harder and harder to give this team the benefit of the doubt.
