I can’t believe how big of a deal people are making over this 😆

Exactly what I was thinking through 4 pages of scrolling.
And I agree with Tommy. I was going say that if Goody is unhappy that no one wants to pay his contract, he could always start scoring more goals.

I am of a different mindset. He has made the playoffs every year and is coming off a year where the Rangers finished two games from the SCF. I would prefer a player that has some passion rather than one who is laissez faire. He would prefer to be in New York, kind of makes sense compared where SJ is right now. But in two years, they could be competing for a playoff spot based on talent they have and will be forthcoming in this year’s draft. It’s the nature of the business, and it’s just that, business, which takes priority over feelings and sentiments.

He will only have to play one season in San Jose.
After next year burns comes off their retained list so the sharks would be able to trade Goodrow and retain salary. Can definitely see someone trading for Goodrow at 40-50% retained in the last 2 years

Was just thinking about that.
Could they conceivably clam him off waivers and trade him back to us with half retained? Or is there a rule about that being cap circumvention?

I know there is a rule if bought out, you can’t bring back for a year. Not sure if waived. My guess is yes as that would be the ultimate in circumvention.

There is some sort of restricting rule about going back to your previous team, but I don't know if this scenario meets that criteria. This is somewhat of a special case.

They could after a season. The sharks are using all 3 of their retained salary slots right now. Have to wait for burns to come off after next season

it's obvious he's gonna go to NJ or the isles or something at the 25/6 deadline for pennies w/ 50% retained, and score a big goal against us

It’s so great too cause the rangers pretty much have a full roster too. So they can have fun with the cap space if they want to

Me too.

Deal Kakko and Chytil gain nearly 7 mil in cap space and sign one player more conducive to today’s style of play. Tired of Kakko’s mediocrity and Chytil injury history.

Chytill has zero trade value right now. No team will trade for him until he proves he can stay healthy for a year. Rangers are stuck with him

yep, I dont know if its really realistic to think they be able to unload Trouba, but, they certainly can trade Kakko too if they want

there's a real opportunity here to give this roster some real help going into 2024-25 season and not only add 800k players like they were forced to do last summer

Feel bad for him, but it’s very unlikely he’ll play out that contract.

Anyone else hearing or seeing any rumblings the rangers could be trying to package Kakko and Trouba in a trade? Would be spicy if true

You wanted the Rangers to have to buy out Goodrow because it would have given you many more years of something to complain about with the cap hits and it’s disappointing for you. I get it
- jimbro83

No.

Let me help you.

Goodrow is bad and should have been signed. He'll get his money.

Drury giving away an asset he overvalued for free is... not good.

You should and I should side with Labor. Pro sports is stacked against the labor.

That's capitalism baby.

all of that can be true and coexist at the same.
