Lindgren took over the starters role. They basically traded a pricey backup for a pricey underachiever. Washington doesn't have much right now up front. Decent gamble IMO

Ya Caps can spend the next few years rebuilding and hoping he finds his game.

Curious to see if Kings buy out Kuemper? He sucks but maybe they play it out this year and try to fix him.

I don't even think the Caps are entering into a rebuild until after Ovi breaks the goals record. The Caps will spend the next few years supporting Ovi with just enough people to get him there.

As for Kuemper - it's an interesting question, but given that the Kings seem to have a relatively decent defensive system - and some goalies really rebound in it - Talbot posted his best season since 2016-17 last year; No-Save Dave posted his best season ever in LA last year.

Kuemper has won a cup and he is only one year removed from being a very good goalie in Washington in his first year. I'd be giving him rope if I was the GM. He could be a solution for them.

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Dial-up BBS's written in BASIC. I heard 300 baud handshakes over an analog line. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to log off.

In one playoff run, Mcdavid could pass the leafs entire core for most individual playoff points (over multiple years)
Wow
What are we witnessing?

McDavid 42pts in 23 games

Marner 50pts in 57 games
Matthews 48ts in 55 games
Nylander 43pts in 54 games
Rielly 40pts in 57 games

He is a master. I never got to see Gretzky in his prime. I imagine it was something like this, just with more Cups.

The weird thing is that Gretzky wasn't as play driving as McDavid is. The only other player that I remember absolutely dominating the ice surface like this was Lemieux. He was like Neo from the Matrix. The game just stopped and Mario walked through it. McDavid has that ability except you watch it in real-time.

It's amusing to me that the measurement of how great an accomplishment this is (because it's pretty fuking impressive) is to compare this to the playoff point totals of the core Toronto Maple Leaf players.

Not vs any other superstar or core in the league led by guys like Crosby, Ovi, MacKinnon - just compared to the Leafs core. In some ways it shows you just how much the Leafs live rent free in the heads of other teams fanbases and also how the media knows if they mention the Leafs it will vastly increase their clicks, reads or views.

I'm glad I didn't post this last weekend but at the time it was true. Of course it's not now but in 4 of 5 games in the finals now the winning team has scored 4 or more and tack in the 13 goals in the last 2 games for the Oilers - that sure had an impact. lol

Because they did it and did it well...?
Also that meme is out of date.

Who did it well? The other superstars and their core(s)?

Maybe you missed the part of my post where I acknowledged the meme was no longer applicable "At the time it was true. Of course it's not now..."

Well, this is a leafs blog and we are leafs fans and the original info came from a short clip from a leafs podcast/discussion.
Also, probably because the three you mentioned all have cups, multiple deep playoff runs and McDavid isnt going to possibly pass their playoff point total in one year.
If he did, that would be even crazier. I mean really crazy!
So this one isnt about living rent free in other teams fanbases head.

Agree to disagree as I've seen it in other places that are not leaf fan based and everyone knows if you want to maximize clicks, views etc. in anything hockey related mentioning the Leafs in any way in what your putting out there is the path to that 99 times out of 100.

End of the day it's an amazing run by McDavid, I personally don't feel the need to compare it to the Leafs core but that's just me.

Crosby, OV, MacK etc. killed it in their runs.

Doesn't MacKinnon have like the 6th best PPG in playoff history or some poop?

I think they're trying to do both. Moving some vets with value, adding some youth, and adding enough around Ovie to let him snipe some goals.

I do recall watching Lemieux during his late prime and you're right, in hindsight it does look a little more similar to how McDavid plays. The whole game revolved around him when he was on the ice.

All the points and goals from McDavid and Draisaitl are great but where were they the first three games of the finals? Those three games are probably going cost them the cup.

Apparently that no longer matters - Mc Jesus's insane run is the best because he racked up points in the 2 games the Oilers lit it up / Bob fell off his pedestal.

If the Oilers don't win the cup I'm sure Oilers fans will rejoice the amazing playoff point run of McDavid the same was Leaf fans celebrate regular season accolades like AM 69 goals but playoff failure. Right?

And anyone who says the Oilers losing in the finals isn't failure is full of it considering they have the best 1-2 offensive combo in the league/world right now.

Draisaitl is injured and has been for a while.
But had McDavid scored pts in those three games his stats would be even more remarkable.
Also, the first game....Edmonton was all over the panthers, should have won. But bob was amazing
So thats gonna happen

Playoff Career:
Gretzky - 1.83ppg
McDavid - 1.63ppg
Lemieux - 1.61ppg

McDavid putting up those ppg's in today's lower scoring game - pretty incredible.
