The people who cheer for other teams are casual fans who don’t really care if their own team wins or loses. Like Fake. - shack67
I find this crazy. The Leafs are and always will be my team - no matter how bad they've been, they've been my team and I cheer for them.
I am also a hockey fan. I like to just watch hockey. Sometimes I don't know who I'm cheering for until I watch the games and my visceral reaction lets me know who I like. A good example of that was the Rangers/Panthers. I don't particularly like either - but I realized when the first Panthers goal was scored that I was cheering for them over the Rangers.

After the Leafs go down is when the real hockey starts. The team game takes over. |

As for the bolded it’s a no, just cheering for them to keep Edmonton from winning lol.. I know my phrasing can be/sometimes is/is bad so my apologies for that.
And I’m not going to ask anyone to hand in a card for their favourite team either… hell don’t even mind fans from other teams.. sat beside one watching outside by the fire pit while he wore the oilers jersey… even my cousin took a job as one of their scouts after selling the spitfires
I’ll be honest, it’s not their behaviour I’m truly afraid of, it’s suffering from never seeing the leafs do it, so it’s all inside of me.
As for the fun, absolutely, this has been very enjoying to watch even into summertime - Dozzer
No need to apologize about phrasing. I often accidentally have missing words (usually just one) in a sentence when i type it out.
I need to proof read.
Lol
The leafs have to win soon, it has to happen sooner or later, right?
Something has to break, and im not talking about woll again (just kidding mr sir).
At least to a cup final....ive cheered too long for them not to see it occur.

I remember even getting to see them play a game in the gardens against LA back in 93’…. The way I felt was amazing and I’d absolutely love seeing them in the finals sooner than later |

Sometimes you just love to argue. A guy paces out to 24, 34 and 29 goals in three consecutive years where he played only 71, 51 (out of 70) and 43 (out of 56) games - you can reasonably say that he's capably a 30 goal scorer. That, by the way, is data.
That said, I didn't say they should have predicted he'd be scoring 50. I said that they already knew he was capable of being a 30 goal scorer because he had (all but) done it - happy? That's worth $5m - especially when he brings his worth ethic and board battling abilities to the table. Like realistically when a healthy Zack Hyman scored 27 and 36 in Edmonton - no one was surprised at that.
He has vastly exceeded his $5.5m contract obviously - and while I doubt he would have hit 50 goals with the Leafs, I think the player he was at the time was worth $5m already.
I did like Dubas' approach with many things but he continually underestimated the importance of the role players on a team and figured the stars could all do it without those guys to do the dirty work. - Monkeypunk
I love to argue? You’re now moving goalposts and rationalizing calling someone a 30 goal scorer who never had 30 once simply because he looked to be capable of it.
lol
That’s not data it’s an opinion.

The bandwagoners are pretending that they always knew that he was worth what the Oilers are paying him. |

And since it’s based on very safe mathamtics it’s a pretty damn reliable one
Either way, Toronto didn’t have the room to keep him cap wise. The end. |

I'm embarrassed for Gio.
What more of a message does he want.
Not even for minimum wage.
Walk away Gio with dignity.
You have enough $$
It's over.
No matter what you may see in the mirror.
You've sadly become a defensive liability. |

There were people in here who said Hyman should be kept over Nylander. 😉 |

He never scored 30 - full stop.
Thats what I said before we got all into “on pace” and “safe math” or reliable opinions.
Do injuries players sustain preventing them from hitting targets also not count?
I guess Matthews is a 70 goal scorer then and Phil Kessel was a 40 goal scorer multiple times for the leafs.
End of the day you are right in that he went where he got more money and term in Edmonton and good for him/ them.
I don’t believe he was on pace to be with 5M in Toronto based on what he had done for the Leafs (playoff dud) but that’s my opinion.

Well, they don't really need to win 4-in-a-row now since there's just one game left. The 4-in-a-row thing matters before they start the come-back.
Edm overcame their 3 losses in a row. Can Florida? we'll see...
Edm would be the underdog for game 7 because Florida gets the last change. Matchups will be important. - Nasty_Duck
The odds of winning 4 in a row are still the same. Florida doesn't have to win 4 in a row. It's like if you get 5 numbers in the lotto, that 6th number is the female dog of the bunch. |
