Let’s play along for a second and say he is coming June 23rd. Do you think it increases or decreases the chance they are actively selling in a rebuild?
Adding to that, seeing as Michkov is a RW, does it affect their decision on trading or signing TK?
I have seen talking heads argue for both so I am seriously asking here. - coffee junkie
1. Not to be a smarta$$ but you can't increase or decrease something that doesn't exist.
2. You would think but I still expect a Konecny. |

I can't speak for Bill but that's my take. It's something I've been stating all along. He won on Cup back in 2004. Since then, he hasn't done much as a coach. He certainly has longevity and a reputation but has simply been a mediocre coach the last 20 years. - MJL
Next year he passes Al Arbour for 8th all-time in wins. mediocre lol

Sure, date doesn’t matter, but it looks like he is coming. Do folks think it means more action on rebuilding or less? - coffee junkie
I think more action. I don't think the team has a good enough center for him to play with. Which means even less rebuilding just retooling.

I don’t think Bill is suggesting he’s been mediocre though. Didn’t he say something like, “his teams performed as expected”? What’s that mean? He has zero effect on the teams he coached? I’m hoping for some clarification from Bill. What Laviolette’s average? How about Maurice? - Dkos
They are all in the top 10 in wins but Torts for some reason doesn’t deserve to be there or got there illegitimately |

Ok now that what Briere and co. hoped was gonna happen the whole time happened can they stop with the phoney rebuild nonsense? - StepfordSam
So you are thinking it will reduce selling of older assets. I assume because they want to start winning with Michkov now.
The other argument is to sell TK (and Laughton/other older assets) since they have too many on RW and continue the two/three year process (“rebuild”) since Michkov is unlike to make a serious impact these first few seasons anyways as he adapts and gets more experience.
Those are the two competing arguments I have heard. I am personally, still all in on the sell train. |

I don’t even understand what you wrote here. Are you saying you can’t increase a rebuild that didn’t happen (I’d have to disagree to some degree but also concede it was more a retool) and you expect them to sell TK? Sorry, I actually dont understand this post. |

Forget all the hype. The kid has to earn a spot and needs to show he is willing to block a puck, preferably with his face. If he can’t do it on the 4th line at the nhl level Lappy can show him in the ahl.
Can’t just hand a kid a spot. He is gonna have to earn it. Maybe after 20 or so games into the season if he is responsible enough defensively he can earn some time on the third line. |

I think it decreases the chances of “selling” for a rebuild. With that said, they may still explore a trade of Farabee and even possibly TK. Rebuilding or not, it’s always made sense to trade one of them in order to address their holes at C & D. The rumored deal with Ottawa could still happen. I would think this increases the likelihood Cam is bought out. Here’s how the depth chart looks on the wing:
Foerster/TK
Tippett/MM
Farabee/Brink
Laughton/Hathaway
Cates/Atkinson
Deslauriers/Lycksell |

All questions that will be answered….but do you pay your RW2 72 million over 8 years? For a guy that will play 6 of those years in his 30’s? |

Going to get Catton, Helenius, or Lindstrom somehow in this draft is the play, IMO. |

Which would you prefer if you had the choice? Lindstrom seems to have the most upside but with injury concerns. |

I like Catton and Hrlenius pretty equally, but I agree Lindstrom has the highest upside. If he can stay healthy, I think he could have a Byfield type learning curve. Probably going to be a rough start. |

Probably because I forgot to type "extension" after Konecny.
No one will convince me last year was a rebuild or retool or whatever. Maybe it started out as one but once they came out the gates winning it was all about pushing forward to the playoffs. Trading Walker doesn't change that. Especially when they wanted to extend him.
I feel Michkov coming over just pushes the envelope further. I've stated too many times on here that coming down to game 82 last season they weren't going to not try to build off of that this coming year. Especially as long as Torts is still behind the bench. |

Replacing Torts at the end of this season is necessary. A lame duck season in the midst of a rebuild makes absolutely no sense. Besides, with Tortorella's style of play being replaced, Michkov hopefully will fulfill his potential with a new Coach who allows offensive creativity. - VinnyP
Bruce Bodreau sounds like a fit. |

whats more likley, torst gets an ext or he is fired/contract runs out?
I say he demands and gets an ext next summer. he won't go into next season without one. |
