Think that may be getting close. Even some talks the Pens want him back. - QuinnFan
I don't think the Pens are doing anything unless they can move off of one of their big contracts. They have 11mill free with only 17 players signed. That Karlsson trade was such a mistake.

Yeah, didn't make a lot of sense to me either, but heard they were trying. Maybe they move Pettersson? |

Why are the Devils trading Marino? - TheSabresTaco
I think they want to give more time to Hughes/Nemec than bottom pairing, they'd get something for Marino and the thought is that they aren't opposed to resigning Smith. |

No, that's a good question. I am 100% fine with trading the pick, and I won't blink if they do one or the other (as long as he does what needs to be done).
But there is some rationale for keeping it:
- Diversify our pool a little bit
- Stagger the timelines
- My own personal entertainment
And much of my desire for wanting them to keep it is (selfishly) #3.
Really, I am fine if they move it. - Slump Buster
I’m all for them doing whatever is necessary to get deals done.
I just wouldn’t voluntarily make this organization younger.

Bobby Mac's draft list comes out tomorrow at 11. Probably noon to publish online.
His and Pronman's are usually pretty accurate. |

does anyone else think that they are going to trade or buyout Skinner then turn around and offer Pat Kane 3 years at 7 large?
I just have a really funny feeling that is the plan. No sources, just a feeling...
for the record, I would approve of the move too. I would much rather trade Skinner and eat some celery before buying him out.

How is the season still going?
NBA started a full month after and finished two weeks ahead of NHL.
Why are they so bad at this. |

I don't look at it as "younger". I am thinking 3 - 4 years down the line when we either need cheaper players or trade bait. My only concern is that some of the current group might get logjammed here if they do a fair amount of shopping. Also, we talk about the big 4 - 5 players - there are promising players beyond that.
Anyway, its a good problem to have. Hopefully a few of them are moved this week.

I think that makes a lot of sense, but I wonder if it would be 2x7. That third year is when skinner's buyout hurts a bit.

It is incomprehensible that they won't address this and the offsides challenge. It shouldn't be that hard to figure this out. I remember when we were appalled that the playoffs didn't end in may.

Wild that the NBA got better after Gary but the NHL thinks he has grown a game that has actually gotten less popular while he’s been in charge. |

Yup that 6 million dollar cap hit hurts year 3. I don’t think there is any way out of it.
Gerbe said 2-3 week ago that skinner gets traded and not bought out. As of right now, the Sabres will have 48 hours to buy him out or not.
(Once the cup is won. Teams have 48 hours) |

I hear this, but what I would say is that two years ago Krebs, Quinn and JJ were all viewed similarly and the past two years have been wildly different.
I don't think you can predict accurately career paths for those guys yet

I think I'm mostly interested to see what our top prospects are worth. There will be a lot of context to break down.

That would be a good move, I think Kane wants the Rangers if they'll take him, from what I've red.
His estimated Career earnings are $115,637,195. At this point I doubt money influences him, but you never know.

No, you're absolutely right. Like I said, I made the statement because I wanted to be at least a little invested in the draft. What it takes to get the players we need, I am on board.
