Imagine if we had gotten Zito

The Sabres would've missed out on Benson then, thank god Adams got hired.

How many drafts has he run? 4? How many players become all-stars in their first 4 years? And it takes goalies much longer than that. He seems to have done well with his firsts, and they made an actual steal with Peterka and maybe the kid we got in the second in last year's draft. We have a top 5 pipeline - it may not mean anything in the long run, but that's about all we have to grade him on NOW.
- Slump Buster

you guys are assuming he has a lot of home runs with these picks

how do the russians look that he drafted?

how about that 2nd round goalie

what do you see in kulich to show he will be a 2 way guy in the nhl?

the value of these prospects sink every year they put up blah numbers in the minors

what young proven players has he added via trades?

what value undrafted ufa's has he brought in for the pipeline?

at least he took care of his friend though and traded for his kid

No fragility here you're the one posting paragraphs trying to explain how a team trading for a very good goalie to make an upgrade is stupid

I mean hey if the sabres traded for ullmark 2 years ago we undoubtedly break the drought in 22-23 but what do I know

- ieetbred

Hey man, you're the one that's too butt hurt to even read a response. Feel free to gloss over what I say, I couldn't care less tbh. Moving on.

No. We can't objectively say that his drafts have been good or bad. I think it is pretty clear that we have a very strong pipeline - some have even said the best. that's about all we can say right now. With the information we have NOW, it looks like they did a good job.

You can't really compare the two trades because of Korpisalo. I think Ottawa easily got the better of the trade with Boston because they moved his salary. It is surprising that Boston made this move because they were looking to shed salary.
- Slump Buster

He is expensive, but if they get the play he showed in LA during a short stint, they got a good deal. IMO, Korpisalo's numbers have been down due to the teams he's been on. CLB and OTT do goalies no favors, BOS does. I think it's pretty likely that their numbers are similar, meaning they got a 1st, $1M in space and more for a fairly clean swap.

No, none of that was said or implied. We were talking about his record at drafting, and all we know right now is that we have a lot of good assets. There may be home runs, or they may all suck. But to expect all stars at 22 seems a little ridiculous.

His mistakes in other areas are a different conversation.

stating obvious facts and flaws is b!tching

how many panther players that raised the cup last night were drafted by them?

The results would argue otherwise.

The AHL prospects lost to a group of AHL lifers in the 1st round. That's not good, its regression from the prior season.

Yes, I do.

The 1 year deals, like them or not were fillers and calculated moves

He’s drafted extremely well

He isn’t afraid of a hockey trade mitts for Byram.

Last years problems ….. Adams gave Granato a decently talented team and Granato sunk it so hard into the ground. Granato made so many poor decisions with lines, scratches, heck even trades and signing with greenway and Clifton that hurt this team badly.

Look at the capitals who made playoffs. You can’t tell me we aren’t more talented than that roster. I think we beat the caps every time we played them last year

- Sabretooth9

We gotta stop saying this right now.

In 4 drafts he's hit on Peterka and probably Benson. That's it.

As of now... and I love him as a player, Quinn is a whiff.

Savoie is unknown and so is Kulich/Rosen

He might've drafted well

I am not sure what your point is. Clearly the GM'ing around here hasn't been good enough. We all agree on that. I wouldn't have picked Adams because of lack of experience. But at the same time, the narratives around here run wild. His major flaws have been being way, way, way too passive. If he has further flaws, we will find out this week. For all we know, him being passive covered up other flaws in judging pro talent. Or maybe he hits a home run and we think we have the right guy.

So good, Adams is willing to trade them and his best draft pick for actual NHL help.

Let's see what they fetch before calling them good assets.

So his drafts are provably not good because (checks notes) the AHL team lost in the playoffs? Are you for real?

I disagree with 99% of this.

Also in terms of drafting well. TBD.

- ImThatGuy

So Granato should’ve stayed and he wasn’t the problem?

Granato was in charge of the PP, the lines, and the day to day.

Granato pounded the desk for greenway.

Granato chose to play Erik Johnson over Ryan Johnson. Even though Ryan was much better.

Granato chose to give greenway and Okposo top 6 to top 9 minutes

I could go on and on ….. but that’s on Adams?

So good, they couldn't help the NHL team that was void a 3rd line last year, what are defining as good?

They have done nothing.

Levi went from phenom to AHL goalie in 4 NHL games.

Benson passed all of them in his first year and was non-existent majority of the year.
