Ton of credit to the Oilers for making this a series.

Congrats to the Panthers

Man, what a game of inches. Panthers worked pretty hard to get over the line and avoid a track meet against Edmonton. It would have been good for the game to have the best player in the league finally win a cup and bring one back to Canada.

Panthers got there and finally did it for their franchise.

Tall order to play defense in your own end for the last 10 minutes of the game.

Maybe next season Edmonton wins a game seven vs. Toronto!

Wonder if Florida franchise will be able to sleep tonight because they tanked all those years.

The Billy Goat curse of course is a bunch of baloney but it is a good tale. The ghost of Harold Ballard is a story equally compelling in Canada/Toronto. Could be.

Congrats to Forsling. I’m happy how much he’s turned his career around and now he has a Cup.

The Panthers never tanked. They weren’t very good for awhile, but I do not see a trade that identifies as a giveaway to make the team worse.

So what trades were a give away? Do you mean for draft picks? Alrighty then.

You do know Florida for years spent too the salary floor, if that's not tanking i don't know what is

He played a great game seven, sure has come a long way from his days with the Hawks.

I gave the Edmonton Oilers a standing ovation after the game. I really thought they would come in to game seven and just blow the doors off Florida. But I guess they were no Toronto Maple Leafs after all! Happy Florida won. Glad they gave the Conn Smythe to McDavid. He deserved it.

Segue to Tallon’s time in Florida.
Talk about tanking …..that year Tallon almost disbanded his entire roster of then went on a free agent spending spree. I kind of felt like Tallon snubbed his nose at the Blackhawks or whomever he felt blamed him for the reported late fax and screwing up the salary cap……he may not even intentionally meant to show he knew how to run the operation but well he kind of showed he was no dumb cookie……he pulled it off and rebuilt Florida’s roster. Probably was paid quite well in Florida and got to check out some nice golf courses too! Although he lost the opportunity to speed around in Bufuglien’s eye catching car singing I can’t drive 55.

Although he was not named one of the three star of the game
Oh how we could appreciate having him return to Chicago

Great series. Congratulations to the Panthers.

Omigosh...as if the terrific series was ending the flawless ending....Gary handles thecrtowd that is excited so his boos balance with winning cheers, and they applaud before the Bob backslash, because even with #97 record breaking performance Bob's four wins in the Final, his goals against, he side to side tracking and saves, they should have found a way for a C Smythe TIE.

he flawless ending was that the Panthers team planned skating full ice with the SilverCup, and then alternating ends of the rink carries.
And when they decided to do the start of a SECOND possession promenade, before the photo, planning their handoffs with congrats, and the fact the used much of the ice, where for years we have seen little boxed in handoffs.

I loved the eras where the team did the first lap around the rink together and then handed it off.Or when there WAS enough room AND planning to use the post game ice as the fan's display, an see it. I loved that ending.

Sure but Vegas has him as the odds on favorite to be the 2nd OA pick now.

I'm fine with whoever they draft, if he turns out to be a good RDman, KD has taken a huge question mark and turned it into a strength.

S Jones. Vlasic
Levshunov Korchinski
Murphy. Kaiser

Ethan Allan
Rinzel

Not to shabby

- BetweenTheDots

I hope whomever he drafts will be a difference maker. My thinking is we may not get a shot at someone like demidov after this year but probably get a shot at a d man like levshunov next year. Cant wait for friday.. go hawks!!

Well you must have listed Allen and Rinzal on account of their being RHD.

Other dmen are DelMastro, Phillips and Crevier. Each is a LHD

Also I agree with your analysis which is to consider selecting Demidov since we may not be in a position to draft as highly rated forward in subsequent drafts.

Congrats to Florida . Now on to the real fun time time of the year. I'm wondering what KFC will cook up to help this team be competitive this season.

D's take longer to develop into strong NHL players, I think Chi goes with the D (just my guess). They also saw him multiple times this season, they know the player very well vs Demidov. Chi will be able to draft another top 5 pick next season where a few forwards will be great. Need to build the right hand D side sooner than later.

Those Canadian fans really want Demidov..............

When you are one of two finalists for the Conn Smythe and you allow one goal in Game 7 of the final and your team wins Game 7 and you don't win the Conn Smythe....this is why the NHL cannot have nice things.
