They booed when they simply heard his name.

I don't blame him one bit for not going back out there - I don't think he owes anybody anything with regards to accepting a trophy. It's precisely not the trophy he wanted. I don't know if he'll _ever_ appreciate that Conn Smythe. It's a symbol of failure.

I was kinda looking forward for his version of this photo though.

Your post factually makes sense but there is no place for sense, facts nor reality in here!

Come on Joel we can will this to go horribly for the Sens if we all wish for it!

This is the way! lol

- Cush29

Like I said before I'm confident the Sens will find a way to (frank) it up anyways. They make the leafs look functional.

I agree and heard the boos too and since some have said it was classless for Mc David not to go out and get the trophy let's paint the Panthers fans with that same brush.

It was classless AF to boo Mc David being named as the winner of the CS - even more so considering their team just won the friggin' Stanley cup.

Devils fan did the same to Giguère in 2003.

Fans root for their guy. Especially drunk fans who just won the cup and don't give a (frank) about how McDavid played.

Ah. New Jersey and Florida. Paragons of good behaviour in the United States!

I don't think it should come as any surprise to anyone that the idiot show, Jersey Shore, took place in both New Jersey and Florida.

Can you (frank)ing believe the NHL made him stay on the ice, then he had to bring that (frank)ing thing in the dressing room where all his team stayed silent for a good 30 min?

What a horrible feeling.

Ya it's still classless and perhaps a good reason to not award the CS on the ice, I mean everyone just wants to see the cup at that point anyway.

In the vast majority of the situations, it's just part of the celebration for the winning team and it's all fine.

This year is an exception, probably won't happen for another 20 years. I don't really have an issue with it.

When McDavid is retired and old, I'm sure he'll still be proud about what he accomplished this year despite not winning the cup.

Meh, I don't think it was a big deal.. I am sure from a fan's perspective, it was a bad decision with the potential photo ops and all...

It was a tough series and to ask him to accept effectively, what is an individual "consolation" award, probably wasn't at the top of his mind.

Unless he never wins it and gets a few more Harts/Ross'/Richards?

He doesn't seem like the kind of cat to take not winning it all well.

M'eh maybe but there is no real need for it to be done right then and there, before the cup is awarded so why bother knowing there is a possibility it could happen? It sure wouldn't ruin the experience for many folks if any IMO but it is what it is.

I can totally understand why a player wouldn't want to come back out to accept that trophy after losing in the cup final - it's not like they don't show any sportsmanship by hanging around watching the other team celebrate and then shake hands. By the time they have got through that handshake line they just want to get away from seeing the winning team continue to celebrate, who can blame them?

I’ve never seen a winning teams fanbase be so lifeless in comparison to others.

Game 7 and your team won the cup, I’ve seen OHL barns more excited.

they should force the losing team to watch all the goals scored in the finals by the winning team on the jumbotron then watch all the penalties the losing team took in the finals.
