My personal opinion is that the oilers got a favourable draw this year and that helped get them to the final. They got La and Vancouver and didn’t have to take on Colorado or Vegas. Dallas was out of gas then they faced them. They may not get another draw like that any time soon. I wonder who won that tkachuk trade between Calgary and Florida

Florida was offering admission for used lottery tickets about a decade ago as a promotion. If they fall off, I wouldn’t be surprised if it goes back to what it was before.

Sadly, there were tons of lower bowl seats empty for this years semis in Florida. Great team but it’s not exactly a passionate fan base other than the Canadian snowbirds who go to see Canadian teams play.

The location of the arena doesn’t help matters either when it’s so far away from Miami proper. I don’t know why they couldn’t just share the same arena as the Heat in downtown Miami.

I’ve said before they need to go back to 1-8 seeding with the top 3 spots reserved for division winners, although I’d be okay with amending that so that a non-division winner could take one of the top 3 seed if they have a better record than one of the division winners.
