Are teams kicking themselves for not drafting MM because he was supposedly not available for a few years?
- WhiskeyMan

I bet they are. I think teams like Montreal thought he wouldn’t come over for 3 years. I certainly never thought he’d come over this fast but I’m ecstatic he’s now going. To develop on Philly.

9.5 for a player who has never scored 70 points and is on the beginning of the downslope of his prime is insane.
- MBFlyerfan

Yea, and with flyers luck he will get a injury. And his production will tail off when he is a fat cat with a guaranteed contract.

Any interest in Connelly or Yegor Surin @ 32. I'm really hoping Chernyshov drops. I expect Briere to dip into the Russian prospect pool again. They do deserve credit for the business they have gotten done in the KHL.

Bill recently said no on Connelly.

I feel exactly the same. Been a fan since I moved to the area in 97. It’s the same nonsense over and over and that gets me.

I am super excited about Michkov but at the same time if they don’t properly build around him what’s the point. We watched the goddamn Panthers win the cup last night. It’s like every bad franchise has had gotten good/great since the last time the Flyers were relevant. Hell, Utah has a slew of picks too. They’ll probably be next. League continues to expand too. It’s not worth following if they don’t ever learn from their mistakes.

- hereticpride

I’ve also been a fan since 97 but I’m sorry to say, between 97 to 2014 and 2015 to now, the Flyers have been night and day. The Flyers were basically a playoff lock for along time with two Stanley Cup finals in my youth. Now, they’re meh and have been for nearly 10 years.

The cupboard at center is so bare, it kind of makes sense to get a high end center now. Tough choice - Catton is
more dynamic with a question whether he can stick at center in the NHL. Helenius- not much doubt will play center, ceiling not as high. I think Briere chooses Catton in this scenerio.

- Trox88

There are several top ranked centers in the ‘25 draft. I’m fine with them selecting Catton or Helenius this year if they stay at 12, but if they trade up this year they should be selecting a defenseman.

Wouldn’t shock me if Danny is aggressive and moves up. I kind of want them to make two picks though. A centre and a d. Maybe Laughton and bee get dealt and some later picks.
- Hextall271

I agree. While it’s more of a pipe dream, I do think they could swing a deal to move up from 12 to 7 and then make another deal to get 11 from Buffalo.

I went to my first Flyers game in 1968 though I was only 3 but I’m old enough to remember the Cup years. With that in mind, I can safely say that the last 12 years have been, by far, the worst stretch in franchise history.

I’m sick of mediocrity and the rebuild but let’s still compete mentality. All of TK, Laughton, and Farabee should be on the block as none of those players will be in their primes when this team might be ready to contend.

FFS, acquire as many first round picks as possible this spring and/or next and take the needed step back next season to get that top 5 pick this franchise so badly needs to move forward.

Treading water as a bubble team while extending aging non superstar players like Konecny will just continue this endless cycle of garbage. Enough is enough!

It’s because they can’t build a team the way they did previously and have either not figured it out or refuse to do it another way.

100%. They don’t even need to go full Sam Hinkie. But they need to move the guys you mentioned because they will bring back value and/or don’t fit the timeline. It’s no disrespect to those players.

I think the Flyers can build a team, I just think it’s been a mixture of bad development and bad luck. If the Flyers don’t rush Ivan Provorov, we’re probably looking at a different player today. I think he was averaging 24 minutes a night as a 20 year old and overtime it was getting to him. If Nolan Patrick meets the hype and can stay healthy, we’re a better team right now. If Ghost doesn’t generate offense, he doesn’t offer anything. What took Sanheim so long to be what he was this season? What specifically makes Joel Farabee special? Good player but what’s the one thing he does well that stands out? Bob made history last night. So how is it Bob looks average here but another franchise is able to unlock his greatness?

Patrick was them lucking into a lottery win from the 12th spot. You can’t plan for that and they should have been picking at 12, just like this year.

Bob was not average here, he was actually pretty good. Many people including Homer saw him as a future star. It was Laviolette that screwed it all up in the playoffs by creating a circus pulling Bob in game 2 and then not playing him until the next round. Lavy started 3 different goalies and pulled each one multiple times throughout the 2 series. That led to Snider’s impatience in forcing Homer to get Bryz. Homer didn’t want to make those moves and kept Bob another year but Bob rightfully didn’t want to be a backup and requested a trade.

That impatience has been their problem. They’ve refused to truly rebuild at any point over the last decade. The current regime is the first to even say the word rebuild but many of us remain skeptical that they are rebuilding.

If anyone remembers the hype of Eric Lindros, the guy was incredible but it took savvy moves to get the team over the top. Mark Recchi for Eric Desjardins and John LeClair. Although it never worked out, Claude Giroux was so good, the organization was able to get away with trading Mike Richards for Wayne Simmonds and Brayden Schenn, as well as Jeff Carter for Jake Voracek and Sean Couturier, making G the number 1 guy. Within the next two seasons, should Michkov meet the type, the Flyers will need a savvy move.

To my memory Bob took his loss really hard and the coach wasn’t sure if he was mentally strong enough to start again. Plus if you have Leighton and Boucher who just took the Flyers deep into a legendary Stanley Cup run, it’s not crazy to go with one of them. I never heard about Bob requesting a trade when being unhappy with backing up to Bryzgalov. Bryz was a back up for along time himself in Anaheim. Bryz and Bob should have leaned on each other as goalies and fellow countrymen.

I’ve heard Badinka mentioned if he’s still there at 32, Surin could be a fit too. At 51, I like Luca Marrelli. Appleyard says he projects well to the NHL and Wheeler had him going there in his last mock draft. I like Misa too. McKenzie’s ranking today has Misa closer to their 3rd rd pick. 2 other guys I hope they look at if they start to really fall are Kiviharju and Justin Poirier. Flyers don’t have a 4th unfortunately but if Poirier gets there I’d take him. Very undersized forward but is a scorer.

I like Badinka a lot, I think he's going to get picked somewhere in the 20's though, he may slide to the 2nd.

I had no idea Iginla was one of the younger draft prospects. Who is gonna bet on how high that ceiling goes?
