There’s a Russian that’s already 21 with a decent scouting report but he’s considered undersized at 6ft by today’s standards. Nabokov.

The few other reports I looked at all sound like long term projects with middling ceilings at best. I guess that’s most goalie prospects tho.

Yeah size seems to be the #1 component scouts look at for goalies. The Grant Fuhrs and Arturs Irbes of the world are as dead as the dodo.

Have to imagine the deal might have involved the pick the Sens sent to Boston for Ullmark.

It depends. Leafs are definitely missing something to get them over the hump. They have Matthews, Marner, Nylander and Taveras so if they’re smart about it they can afford to move one of them to address other needs.

That ownership and fanbase seem at their wits end otherwise I’d say maybe they give it another year but I expect them to do something substantial after that exit.

I don’t think that was the case. But maybe it was in a deal including Laughton. It sounded like a larger deal as several outlets noted it involved a defenseman and 1 suggested it wasn’t who everyone thought (Chychrun).

Among playoff teams, Vancouver could fit a big contract for him. The problem becomes what they’re trading to get him.

Marner, if moved will have to go to a team that’s likely in the bottom half of the league currently. I think a team like Seattle might make sense. Exchange some of their depth for an elite forward in Marner to play alongside Beniers. Toronto is unlikely to get another player of exact value for Marner but I think that’s ok if they acquire a few pieces that improve their middle 6 and defense. Some quality depth would help ease the burden of the remaining big 3 in Toronto.
