Mickey was alright for like 2 million or whatever he was making as a leaf. 4 to 5 million? No thanks. Good that the leafs didn't overpay.

Laff is UFA so it's a whatever.

- Aaron_85

He didn't deserve the $4.75 Vancouver paid him, but the 20 goals in 50 games prior to his UFA status probably earned him $3.5m, which is still an unfortunate overpay for a guy who only scored 13 and 11 in his two years in Vancouver.

I liked him and Engvall together. We do miss that speed, but if there's a stat for number of career breakaways with no finish? I mean there's Grabner, Kapanen and Mikheyev that have to be near the top of the list!

The Dallas Stars are buying out the remainder of Ryan Suter's contract.

With one year remaining on Suter's deal this move will add $1.4 million on the Stars cap for the next two seasons.

The Stars will save $1.4 million with the buyout.

A mixed blessing for players.

You can go places without being recognized and mobbed. That's a plus.

On the other hand, nobody gives a poop about your shiny trophy.

Jason Blake also had jets and a great ability to use his blinding speed to race down the ice and shoot the puck directly into the opposing goalies chest.

NHL has updated some rules for next season.
Rule 76.4 (Faceoff procedure – centres)

"Following an icing, the offensive centre also now will receive one warning (same as the defensive player) for a faceoff violation."

Is he really?

Built a team that went to the Cup Final, did he not?

Leafs have similar (not exactly) the same building blocks with their high draft pick talent core.

He has enough Stanley Cups as a builder. I'd fire Shanahan and Treliving immediately for Holland.

Holland isn't perfect. He made some mistakes in Edmonton, no doubt, but he did enough to get them within 2 goals of a Cup.
