7 hours straight is incorrect. public record backs that up

- hello it's me 2050

lol you have more issue with the 7 hours straight and not the single part?

Laughton and our 2nd for pick 14

Buffalo turns pick 11 into Laughton and 2 good 2nd round picks

- Stayin alive

Krebs may be falling out of favor, but they still got Tage, Cozens, and Savoie should be stepping up for next season. Not sure where Laughton fits there. Krebs is a fine option moving down to their 4th, but I could see them unloading him for a crack at something else. Why bother

Regardless, even with Laughton’s experience and leadership, I’m not sure he’s a fit unless someone is moving over to take Skinner’s spot.

I really don’t think Catton falls to 12, but I wouldn’t think twice at the podium if he did.

And yeah, the Sharks did this for defense. If it was for wing, they’d have happily stayed at 14 or even traded down, stocked assets, and snapped up a decent one lower in the 1st.

- Hesh_

6 defensemen + Celibrini+Demidov+Lidstrom+Iglina. If Sennecke goes top 10 he will be there.

Guess we're not trading Laughton and/or TK to Buffalo then
- Tomahawk

Maybe we are for 14 and 42.

Buffalo needs veteran leadership that can play. Laughts would be a perfect fit. And cheap relatively speaking

That’s hopeful, but there are three snags

1) you need all 6 defensemen taken

2) the team taking a forward will have to choose Iginla over Catton. Maybe Calgary does this? But not every team is the Flyers who sweat taking legacies. I DO think he goes there, but Catton helps them a lot, too. More valuable position if Tij does indeed move to wing, too.

3) Sennecke in the top 10 is far from a lock.

Tie all three factors in and the percentage is possible, but not probable.

I'm starting to get the feeling that Silayev might be the first D off the board.
- Tomahawk

I think Levshunov is still the first to either CHI or ANA. Then Silayev or Buium.

So where does he slot in?

Who moves to wing?

I think that is who the Flyers would trade up for a 7 if he was there.
- psuhockey

That would be awesome if they moved up and he fell to them at 7.

I just get the feeling that some scouting groups won't be able to resist taking the unicorn and also seems like there are no shortage of doubters about Lev's upside.

Supposedly Rotenberg had him studying film of Crosby's off-puck game as part of the transition.

The Flyers will probably start him out w/ Coots, Cates or Poehling centering him, but I think eventually they'll Claude him out of necessity.

- Tomahawk

Cates is a 4LW. Having him center Michkov would be an atrocity.

If people think Laughton is bringing back a 1st in the off season or even Laughton+ get ready to be disappointed.

Teams will 100% explore other options in trades or FA that don’t require parting with big assets.

Id say you might get offered and 2nd and a 3rd or 4th at best. Maybe you get a 1st at the deadline from an absolutely desperate team.

I’d think laughts would slot anywhere on 3rd line. Move between 3rd /4th line. Play big penalty kill minutes

They probably traded up for Yakemchuk or whichever of the top 6 defensemen are left as they have nothing in the defense pipeline. Would be good for the Flyers.

If the top 6 defensemen all go in the top 11, it would likely only take Sennecke to be a top 10 pick for Catton to fall to the Flyers at 12.

- psuhockey

Yep, definitely means none of the D will be there at 12. And if Iginla and Sennecke both go top 10, then Flyers should have their choice between Catton and Helenius.

We’re so desperate for goal scoring, that I don’t mind the risk for a specialty player.

I’d just trade down to do it. I wouldn’t swing at 12 with all the talent that’ll be available at that spot.

But if they trade down once or twice, stock some nice picks, and get him mid/late teens, then alright. Sure.

Maybe “all he does is catch touchdowns” or maybe he’s Schremp, Yakupov, Omark, Paajarvi, or fill in your favorite failed Oiler here. We dunno.

Id gladly take the risk at 17, just not 12.

I think Calgary could go either way with how the board falls as far as D or F. I think NJ will go forward. I can see Iginla or Sennecke there.

My guess is that’s what Buffalo decided when moving back. There’s a good chance they’ll get Eiserman still.

Buium? What mock has him going that late? The more recent mock drafts have him going close to top 5 and I’ve even seen a couple this week have him at 3.

Are you sure you’re not looking at older mock drafts from earlier this year?

- Schmojo

The Hockey News and SN in their last mocks before the draft both have Buium going at 12.
