Who is Phil Emery? I honestly do not know. - LAHawk
Jerry Reinsdorf’s best friend. Understand you can’t keep all these draft picks because you won’t have room to play them all but the islanders trade to get a reach at 18 and deal 2 seconds for another stretch…. SMH |

I wonder if Bedard is pissed because the Hawks won't have a chance to draft his buddy Tanner Howe? |

My only comment was about his weight, Sunshine. I didn't say whether he was big or small. - Elbows15

Was hoping for Emery or Elick.
KD has only taken one player (Kantserov) from outside NA in his 3 drafts in picks #1-90 - Assman22
They can take one with their 2nd r..

Bears GM who always to me seemed to take guys who would've went much later.
I felt the last two years they'd always do the right thing, this year I didn't have a good feeling for the last week or so.
Hopefully, I'm wrong. Probably a better chance I'm wrong then the scouting staff is - vabeachbear

My amateur 2 cent opinion.
Hawks must feel comfortable with the ypung defenseman in the system or on the team - Levshunov, EDM, Kaiser, Allen, Rinzel, KK and Vlasic. And you have to figure they'll get some vets in the future to augment them and to eventually replace Murphy and Jones. So no need for the Charlie Elicks or EJ Emerys of the world.
Don't know much about Boisvert or Vanacker, but from reading Wiz' reports they could add some physicality to the lineup. Which is needed by the way if you look at the past 2 years picks consisting of the smaller speedy type forwards. |

KD and staff must have a good read on Vanacker since they obviously were watching Lardis. Vanacker got the scouts attention. Wiz scouting report sounds like this kid will fill a role eventually in Chicago. I do like trading up for picks because 1) trading up is an indication they like and see a place for this kid; and 2) They have extra choices each year so they can afford to trade a pick in this scenario. Of course KD has identified and drafted well so far in his tenure so this deal is just fine - jhawk59
The smile on their faces tell me they were very excited that Carolina was willing to make the trade and able to draft a guy they felt fell in the 1st round |

I will say, they better hit on vanacker because the compensation was a bit extreme compared to the other trades. Hoping for the best |

I dont have to watch them lol and I don’t care. But a lot of smart hockey people didn’t have him as their top D. But maybe the Hawks have better scouts than anyone else so we will see - QuickSCF

So everyone is a bust and you would rather have 34 and 50 vs an additional 1st.
Got it. Looking forward to when you take over as GM. |

He played all season with a shoulder injury and put up good numbers. He lives in farm country and works his family farm. I wasn’t really paying allot of attention but noticed he was always involved in the play. - paulr

At the same time he drafted Long in the 1st round and he was our best offensive lineman for years |

Not really. When a team stockpiles so many draft picks it’s to use as trade bait as much to draft players. A team can only have so many players in their system. |

The fuuck you going on about? Is this about Korbumski?
Rick called him a big farm boy and maybe he WILL be but there isn't much difference between 160 and 175 lbs at this point.
My comment regarding Vanacker was at least they saw him a lot. Which they did because he is on the same team as Lardis.
If you don't like my opinion, don't read it. |

Sounds like a lot of bitter people here tonight. So I’m assuming most agree. But as I said, maybe Chicago has better scouts than the rest of the hockey world. Time will tell |

I get that, but compared to the other comparable trades, a 3rd could’ve been used instead of the 50 OA |

Ben Danford, pretty good defensive defenseman but I didn’t think he’d go in the first round. |

Well the odds say the higher you draft your chances of drafting an NHL pro are better. These are facts. Draft in the 2nd round the teams chances of drafting a pro drop from 50% to 30%.;
So no matter how disappointed fans may be the numbers say the opposite.

hemming is 6'1 200+ lbs at 18 with a cannon shot. - SteveRain
Maybe Hemming should have been the pick, he was there for the taking. We won't know who's better for years.
I recall thinking Jordan Greenway was a steal for the Wild at pick 50 six or 7 years ago because of size and heavy shot.
Didn't take them long to dump him to Buffalo and his career has just been meh. |
