Here is the difference, which shouldn’t have to be spelled out but apparently needs to be: The teams that passed on Zeev all drafted highly touted prospects, not a guy that tops out as a maybe a 3C and is at least 2-3 years away. Thats the issue.

We watched a decade of Giroux not having enough around him and the Flyers, by their own self-infliction, just passed over a possible top pairing D man because he’s similar in size to some less talented and injury prone players they already have. The stupidity of this franchise knows no bounds and will continue to do so while Comcast is choosing the people that run things.

You have no idea what Luchenko tops out at and neither do I. The Flyers think he can be a 1C or 2C, and if that happens then Luchenko is a good pick. What you don't understand is most of the publications you read about a player come from scouting that happened months ago. Luchenko by all accounts had a tremendous 2nd half of the season and his stock was rising fast. Also consider he is only 17 years old and is already 195 lbs of pure muscle. The kid, like Cam York, is a workout freak from what I read and had a great combine also. So the kid already has an NHL body, skates like the wind and has a high hockey IQ. Give him 2 more years in the minors and barring any injury, he could be a top center prospect in the NHL. The only stupidity here is people like yourself that are trying pass judgement on a 17 year old kid! The Flyers loved the player and he was their target if they could not trade into the top 10 and they executed accordingly.

It means there is no injury .. his medical staff looked at him, but the Flyers had to say there was so they could put him on LTIR, since you can't send down an injured player.

It is what it is, the Flyers don't have the cap space for RJ to play and from what I understand, Torts won't play him anyway. Thus the only option last season was to waive RJ and send him to the Phantoms so RJ faked an injury to stop that from happening. Now the Flyers can't buy him out because RJ is faking an injury. So what option do the Flyers have except put him on LTIR day on of next season? I for one don't want to watch RJ on this team next season.

If I have got a few players op my board that I rate equally, by definition they are the BPA on my board. I thus take the player where I have the most need, which in the Flyers case was center. The Flyers clearly had Luchenko ahead of Helenius so they picked him. What you are not understanding is you somehow think Buium was ranked higher on the Flyers board, which is the only thing that counts, but Briere clearly stated they thought Buium and Luchenko where about the same so they picked the center. Luchenko, like Beckett-Sennecke, were rising quickly up the draft board and thus both got selected earlier than projected. Luchenko never would have made it past the Blues at 16.

To be fair, pretty much every expert on evaluating NHL talent has described Michkov as “elite” “special” “a star” or in similar terms. The Hockey News even called him the “next great Russian superstar.”

And then there’s the fact that he’s either broken, tied, or come close to breaking Russian records at his age for guys like Ovechkin, Malkin, Kucherov (just to name a few). And in the Covid-period Worlds Michkov (12G 4A) outscored Bedard (7G 7A). So Michkov is probably not a good example to use.

We don't know how drafting Jett will work out, but fingers crossed. I do like trading the 32nd pick to the Oilers for next years 1st round pick. There was nobody that stood out at #32. Next years draft is supposed to be stronger, so even if the Oilers win the cup and the Flyers get the 32nd pick again, there should be better talent to choose from. That will give the Flyers 3 1st round picks next year. Only time will tell on how DB uses those picks?
