If Zeev was that good why did so many teams pass on him? He was supposed to be the 2nd or 3rd best defenseman in the draft according to a lot of publications I read. He may be a great NHL player, but then again he may not. To use a quote from A Few Good Men, "its the difference between paper law and trial law". I trust the professional scouts that are actually getting paid by NHL teams over some former or retired scouts that watch some film and put a mock draft together.

There were 5 main dmen all rated differently. Not everyone was in on dmen. There were always forwards too. He was simply the last of the 5 dmen picked. At 12. It was a gift. Picks 10/11/12 all went d. The last of the 5. In order for one of those dmen to reach 12 we needed a surprise pick or 2 and we got it with sennecke going at 3. No one ever said he was guaranteed to be the 2nd or 3rd best dman. Yes some had him ranked top d some 5th. Same as all the other consensus top 5 d. And 5 d went in top 12 picks.

He was gifted kinda same as pick 10 and 11.

He’s 17… he missed the age cut off by 3 weeks. As strong or stronger than prospects ahead of him and more impressive at the combine. Id take any kid who’s younger and more dedicated to their fitness since that’s not an easy thing to teach - a lot of these kids try to make it on skill alone and don’t understand that conditioning is a big part of being a professional athlete. I admit I am “parroting” this info but he was second fiddle on the storm until a teammate got drafted and he was thrust into a bigger role. He had a 60 point increase. That shows promise. Would he have gone higher next year? Possibly

I don’t think TK fits into the Michkov window. If it were me I’d build around michkov. Load up on picks by trading TK Laughts and couturier. I just think it’s a timing thing. By the time Mitchkov hits his prime those guys are going to be on the downside of their careers. Get a high first round center pick next year to compliment mitchkov.
Now if they sign TK to a 8 year 9 mill contract it would be the same flyers bullpoop.
