Looks like Washington is trying to get to the playoffs this year badly. Great news for the Flyers.

Rangers
Carolina
Devils
Washington
Pittsburgh
Columbus
Islanders

Looking at the division, the Flyers should be battling Columbus and the Islanders, even then I don't see them above any of them.

If they stayed put or back a little as it happened, I knew they weren't go defense, specifically Buium, for the reasons you wrote.

However I didn't see Luchanko coming. Sounds exactly what the Flyers have an abundance of which is weird if you look at how Briere and Co think they have a few Buium's.

I'm trying to remember all the evaluations of the past draft picks of the Flyers...seems about the same.

Recently who has panned out? Brink...believe he was a 2nd and they traded up for, struggling to stay in the lineup at 23. Zamula...I like his game, nothing flashy, but could become a nice 3rd pair. Cates...decent role player.

The rest...all former 1sts.

Still waiting on Rubstov, he had a great profile when drafted too.

Well, Lindblom was good, then cancer happened. I would disagree Brink is struggling to stay in the league. Maybe after this year, I would agree. He who shall not be named was a 2nd rdr- no longer in the league. Lots of lottery tickets after the 1st rd. Even 1st rd crapshoot.

Lineup, not league.

With the Flyers track record, I expect very little for 3rd rounds and later from them. This draft is clearly filling depth cracks and by their actions recently are all in for the 2025 draft, but do they stick with it?

Update: I am ALL for that plan for 2025/2026 draft, but they have to go FULL not halfway to make it happen. That means no big contracts (re-signing or UFA), continue to trade/dump guys that shouldn't be in the future plans.

It's conflicting signals, no doubt. They want to trade Frost, no issue. However, Laughton has to go also. I'm fine with Farabee staying.

At least 2025 is shaping up to be a franchise defining draft

That's why trading 32 didn't bug me too much. If it's deeper why not plan on next year's?

Do we know the conditions on how it becomes Edmonton's 2025 or 26 1st?

Edmonton's 2025 1st is top 12 protected, but if they trade the 2026 1st then the Flyers get 2025 1st unprotected.

So if Edmonton trades 2026 1st most likely that means a TDL deal and they are in the playoffs. I love the deal for a chance for a better 1st in a deeper draft.

Again I am all for the plan, but their future actions will really dictate what they are doing.

2025 HAS TO BE a top 5 pick....HAS TO BE.

It is Interesting to me that even 4 years later, we watch those two geezers argue like really slow children on national television and people on here still think Trump is cool. Than it hits me. I forget there are a lot geezers on this board, so a handful of them see themselves in Trump…and think, wow he’s cool….

I don’t support either of them. I think they’re embarrassing.

Welp, once they trade Frost and Couts inevitably gets injured their top 6 centers will be Poehling and Laughton

That should do it.

I'm fine with that, but I question whether Briere can move anyone.

Starting list for 2025:
James Hagens (C)
Logan Hensler (RHD)
Porter Martone (W)
Anton Frondell (C)
Michael Misa (C)
Ivan Ryabkin (C)
Roger McQueen (C)

Pretty good starting point.

I agree 100% on your last sentence.

I know the rebuild turned out to be a lie but getting a 2025 3rd from moving back one spot last night and to possibly getting another first, maybe just MAYBE, theirs actually a plan in place.

But yes to piggyback on your last remark. It absolutely better be a high 1st. We know the Colorado and possible Edmonton picks are in the 20's at best.

Forgive my previous post. I didn't realize the Flyers traded their 3rd from next year to move up in the 2nd for Spencer Gill.

If the center depth chart for the Flyers is Poehling, Couts, Cates, and Abols then they are going in the right direction.

Securing that top pick is crucial, just like SJ took advantage of it yesterday. They got Celebrini and was able to make moves to get a top pair defenseman because of it. A team can not make those kinds of moves in an outside position.

“I think Zeev Buium is gonna be a great player, and he’s someone we considered strongly. But with Cam York, Jamie Drysdale, Emil Andrae — at some point, it gets tough to go with the smaller guy,” said Briere.

They need more impact players. I'm not saying they'll find another Michkov but they need to be a position for the chance.

Trade one of those guys if Buium becomes a stud.

That's where I feel differently, the Flyers CAN NOT think we got lucky we got Michkov and maybe hopefully we find skill like him again maybe...they don't have a choice THEY HAVE to get more.

They must be high on Emil Andrae to even mention him. I wouldn't be surprised if Buium makes the NHL and has an impact before Andrae even makes the Flyers full time.

This election isn’t about Trump or Biden. Step back and see the big picture.
