We've spent the last 5 years squandering 2nd and 3rd round picks with nothing to show for it. So why not just use picks to add proven talent. Then again, these picks are really important to find bottom 6 character guys. Can't win without character guys.

Unless they are waiting for Trouba's NMC to turn into a NTC with a 15 team no trade list but i doubt that would be the issue or else he could just put Detroit on his list and kill the deal anyways. Have to be other parts that haven't been agreed upon yet like maybe salary retention, return or one team has to make another move before they can make the deal.

Maybe the sports reporters were out to lunch and Drury/Yzerman never even talked about Trouba at all.

I could see the Wings keeping Seider and Edvinsson on different pairings to solidify 2 parings and have one of them on the ice for 50 of the 60 minutes per game. Maybe have them together at the end of a game while up by one or something.

It's funny that here in St. Louis the Blues fans are happy that the organization passed on Eiserman.... they feel if he was available at 16 there was good reasons... either his interviews weren't so good or simply his game left to many doubts as to translating to the NHL.... Yzerman has had some bad decisions but as of now we just don't know on this one.... Walman, yeah..... Lalonde being kept is my biggest issue with Yzerman at this point, because in terns of free agents you can't sign who doesn't want Detroit..... and the trade market is pending on a dance partner as well.... none of it matters if the Wings don't address goaltending.... if Husso is one ot the 2 the team will go nowhere.....

Lyon and Husso is fine in goal as long as the defense is improved. If not then it doesn't matter who is in goal because there is nobody available that could keep their confidence up for long with that defense.

I disagree on Husso... soft goal after soft goal... the team was handicapped each time he started.... Lyon may be fine, he saw more action than ever in his career and in my opinion was misused by Lalonde by either not playing hom or playing him too much..... the d is far from great, but Husso did his part deflating them more times than not...

Brandsegg-Nygard screamed Red Wing in the predraft process and Detroit's exactly where he ends up. The Norwegian's a power winger with a quality shot and is a monster on the forecheck.

A concern is the lack of high-end upside. Brandsegg-Nygard felt like a Detroit pick because the Wings have taken prospects in a similar mold in past years. Detroit lacks game-breakers and didn't add any prospects who have legitimate potential to become that.
