He's been in the dog house with the Sabres for a bit now...

Something happened when he was in Buffalo.

Missed curfew or something, which is why he got his one game and then shipped right back to juniors. Only reason he ended up playing is because his parents were flown in

- Stripes77

Wellzadorovmissed curfew as did almost cup winner e Kane.

Sad.

@CMDeDominicis

My quick thoughts:

Stinks to see Savoie go but he was the guy they were offering teams all summer in deals. Helenius made him more expendable.

- Lunaion

Kinda like how Ott made Myers expendable or something.

So does Matt Savoie have cancer or some life threatening disease? Why would you give him away, especially with another 13 million left on the table? I am confused.

McLeod is the fastest player in the NHL.
- ImThatGuy

Literally in the hundredth percentile.

Malenstyn, NAK and Lafferty in 96th percentile or higher.

I think as of now

the last roster spot is a 3rd line winger spot
krebs, kulich, rosen and helenius are in the mix

puzzling it was 1 year for joker

- homiedclown

I agree the joker contract is very strange. He could’ve gotten more money

We have too many prospects and not enough roster spots.

Pretty simple thought process.

McLeod had 4 points in 24 playoff games. Sounds like he will fit in with missing the playoffs since he missed them this year too
- sabresfan69

He also had 3 goals in 6 games in the finals

I hope you are right, but a first round pick...we shall see. Hopefully, his height will be a problem in the NHL and he will be injured when the Sabres play the Oilers.

You guys worry about the wrong sh!t.

If the moves he made gets them into the playoffs, I couldn't give two sh!ts what Savoie does. They have enough prospects, young players and picks. Helenius made Savoie expendable and they got one of the fastest players in the league, who's defensive metrics are outstanding. They have a true shut-down 3C now. Everyone kept saying, make a trade, get a 3C and I'll feel better, make a trade, overpay if you have to, blah, blah, blah.

You got what you wanted.

Thanks! So he doesn't win 51%, his average is 49% and I like he's good Defensively. But Savoie should have been used for Top 6 Help, not bottom 6.
- Buff36

Natural Stat Trick had him at 51% for the past season at 5v5. 30.6% on PK

I believe they had a preliminary deal done that Adams botched. He is exactly what we need, and the type of player actually worth overpaying for.
- Mentalorgasm5

What about when his new contract is negotiated...7 x $8.5m...at age 28. I assume he will want a long term deal, hence why I projected 7 years, the $8.5m is a guess and down 15% from his rumored "demand" of $10m. We are talking a 65pt player, not 85.

I would LOVE him here, but in his case, it has to be with a contract extension in place , and shorter term....5 years. He is in the middle of his best years, for a couple more...then I fear a decline just like Skinner.

Gotta find a little offense somewhere, we can hope for rebound seasons from Tage, Cozens and such but Kevyn still needs to replace the production we lost somewhat.

If the flyers hold 2 mill and makes him way more valuable
- Sabretooth9
Hold $2m on his NEW contract? The new contract value is THE concern, not his $5m current contract

Dig a little deeper and Perhaps he did other things to help his team come within a goal of winning the cup, like
1. One of the teams top PKs and was on the ice for a total of O goals against on the PK
2. Scored 3 goals in the finals

Sure, at $3.5M for the upcoming season, but it doesn't alleviate the real issue, which is how much is Konecny going to cost on his next deal, and will he want to extend with the Sabres.

When things were working under Ralph, most of the offense was quietly generated through Dahlin and Power. Hopefully they can get back to that.

L4 is going to be a blast to watch.. fast and hitting.. not alot of skill, so Sabre9 will absolutely hate them😊.
L3 if Benson and McLeod are together will be very responsible.. I don't know a ton about Zucker, although metrics NST are pretty decent, so that line should be competitive and hold their own.
As was said before, Top 6 is going to carry the scoring (like a lot of teams). Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing Kulich make the roster with Cozens and Quinn.
