We have a guy on the roster that almost put up 2 ppg on the WHL in his D2 year, also has 25 pts in 25 ahl games, hasn't worked out so hot in the NHL

If you take a forward top-10, you believe it's possible they make the NHL and do well by D+2.

Matthew Savoie hasn't done that. Many high-end outcomes forecasted for him on draft day have already been disproven.

Great prospect, but IMO his value has decreased since draft day.

- kingcong39

Chad said they were shopping him all offseason. Guess this was the best they could do.

Whatever he did last year must have been unforgivable to them.

We traded a top10 pick that was almost NHL ready for a 25pt center man.

We are cooked folks.

30 points

pair him with benson and the number goes up to 50 points

Right bc it'll be top5 in a stacked draft.

None of these excuses explain the enormous gap in value. Just bc you assembled a bad roster doesn't mean you should also destroy the future. Worst fears have been realized.

- RhinoFan

Enormous gap in value according to you.

There's a strong chance NHL GM's don't agree with your valuation.

It was even said in one of the recent prospect articles.

This is a Meh trade for me. A little confusing and definitely an overpayment but we are going to have to over pay for players. Every other GM knows GmKA is desperate and they are going to take advantage of it. Get used to it.
- hehateme

if it was kulich or rosen and a russian for mcleod I think everyone would have been fine with the trade

savoie was one of the few prospects I thought could make an impact with the big club

Did Adams overpay on this trade, and maybe the previous one? Yeah, he did. That's the price of tea at this point in the offseason. You know who hasn't overpaid? The Torontos and Rangers of the world, who are still trying to get their offseason moving.

I hope he overpays again today for the second line wing.

Playing on McDavids wing will have wonderful effect.

And Savoie has questions. Whether or not he's better than a 4th liner isn't one of them. Before anyone makes 3C claims. He was the Oilers 4C going into this year most likely.

- RhinoFan

Assuming he's playing on McDavid's wing as a rookie...?

Yes, because they decided to extend Henrique.

You’d think Savoie is the second coming of Sidney McDavid.

I guess McLeod has zero chance of ever progressing to a 50 point player Savoy will score 100-200 a year in the NHL

Had we flipped Krebs for today's Ryan McLeod in 21 this place would have exploded.

Isn't this part of what makes this trade so fascinating? Edmonton fan talks about him like he is a poor man's Brian Holzinger. Fast, but nothing else. But his underlying numbers are very good.

So the offseason doesn’t end on July 1st. Imagine that.

My thoughts before I crawl back into retirement:

I’m a huge Savoie fan, I think he’s got the tools to be a 2RW. He absolutely can pop off in Edmonton due to circumstance and playing with McDavid or Leon.

On the surface it’s an overpay, but McLeod is a solid hockey player. He’s a perfect fit as the 3C and there is a reality where if they keep Krebs there, that McLeod can slide in next to Tage and Tuch on the top line and he’d fit in really well there too.

Adams and Lindy are putting a track team out there and it’s going to be fun to watch.

If they can swing a Ehlers/Zegras trade it’s the best offseason this team has had in years.

Back to the dock.

Necas would also be cheaper than Ehlers (trade wise, not contract)

Kids young enough and talented enough to grow with this team. Sabres have the opportunity to roll 3 decent lines for the first time in awhile and a 4th that will be a menace to play against.

Maybe because he played some wing with Draisaitl?

The idea of Ehlers now becomes intoxicating. At what point do you go for it even though he isn't extended? Ostlund or Kulich, RJohnson, next year's first? Man, that would be a ridiculous top 6.
