Opinions vary I suppose. Tried breaking up each facet instead of combining them all with hindsight. Buium falling was a bit tough to watch. But I think you have him in Byram to be honest. this team needs a different flavor. I like the Konsta pick a lot, as we sit here begging for a real 3C.

Each their own.

Ya, it's tough to break up trading the pick. It's kind of both, but Malenstyn was tough to watch happen with the trades happening around the league. Bad day.

Nothing against Helenius, especially if you don't like the prospects you have at C. Seeing Krebs as the likely 3C and Ostlund still here, their moves just don't fit together like you'd expect.

Peeping Ehlers cap hit I noticed Josh Morrissey's cap hit of 6.x mil/year... that's a nice contract
He'd look great in our lineup!

They have a massive pile of guys for the long term future in the organization. It's a good problem to have but he MUST start now.

This draft like I mentioned before was about finiding bottom half, competitive high energy talent (Konsta Kleber Ziemer) because those kind of guys are largely missing in the pool, especially up front.

But if you determine, hey ya know we like the fit of Helenius more than Ostlund, it's time to move, now.

I compared this offseason to Darcy's Kassian draft. A giant change in direction after realizing how soft of a team he's built and that trading for these guys is extremely difficult (with more than 4th line skill).

He learns these lessens very slowly.

Not that it matters or there's anything us fans could do, but Comrie or Reimer on a 2-way contract? Is there any difference in talent

did anyone see we signed Reimer as our #3, 1x1

Interesting correction. Should be a nervous moment when they waive him. Someone is usually dealing with a pre-season goalie injury.

Correction: it's a one-way contract for Reimer, so he'll get paid $1 million if he doesn't make the Sabres' roster and clears waivers to join the Rochester Americans.

He’s most likely playing in Rochester. Which is completely fine.

I think the contract is now listed as a 1-way signing?

Yeah at camp. Sent him through waivers. No one is picking him up / all GMs are too old school to claim him.

It happens every year after training camp cuts

Not sure what his return would be. But that would be some nice cap relief.

Move 2.5 mill (just guessing) and girgensons not accepting his 2.5 a year

We have more cap space.

Also moving Clifton is an option

- Sabretooth9

Why do we need more cap space, though? We'll have around $10million available after signing our RFA's

There's backup goalie waiver claims every year. Spencer Martin was claimed twice last year. There will be some risk to waiving him.

Greenway makes 3 million dollars. That is an expensive healthy scratch

Don't we still have Tokarski or Houser... shouldn't be a big deal if we lose him.

Watching Richardinson + Buium fall to them was the dream scenario, ending up with Helenius + Malenstyn is a giant F. That trade blew up on them.

Zucker as the only middle 6 add, not upgrading the D + no 3C is an F.

They have a checking line again, after a decade of LOG. That's nice. Just can't give a whole lot of credit for a 4th line of relatively cheap players. I will enjoy seeing a check finished again.

- Lunaion

Disagree, Helenius is the 2nd most NHL ready player in the draft. Malenstyn for a 2nd is overpay, he's probably worth a 3rd, but the chance of a 2nd making a meaningful impact in the NHL is around 25%, a 3rd is around 15% - I can live with the overpayment. Big issue isn't all the 4th liners we added, those were good adds, big issue is 3C and top six winger. Strome and/or Ehlers would solve this nicely

I think Helenius will end up >> than Krebs and Ostlund may be included in a trade for a top 6 winger?? Krebs probably has one year left to prove he's not JAG.

Krebs and Greenway are two names I have heard the most they are looking to move on from.

However as it stands now I would roll out this lineup:

JJ Tage Tuch
Zucker Cozens Quinn
Greenway Krebs Benson
Malenstyn Lafferty Aube-Kubel

Not a playoff roster at all

Are you suggesting you'd take Helenius over Richardinson or Buium? I think there's a big talent gap there.

No one knew who Malenstyn before the trade. I'd pout his value at a 4th, at best.

I think they got crushed at both ends of this deal, and likely could have made a better trade once the draft fell to them.

He’s the backup in Buf. Vet presence and I’m fine with it. Levi either forces himself as the phenom undisputed starter, or he starts in Roch.

Krebs at 3C, Joker still here, Zucker as the middle 6 add. That falls below anyone's offseason expectation.

Tokarski is UFA, believe Houser is too. Sandstrom is the new #4.

Think they did pretty well landing Reimer + Sandstrom. Good chance at least one of the plays some games for them this year.

Like Buium, but he's a 6'0 dman who wouldn't be in the nHL for at least 2 years and too similar to what we have now and will have then. Helenius is something we don't have at all, a hard nosed talented C, who may play in NA this year
