Edit: I see what you are saying now, but why not just sign him to a 2-way contract for 1M guaranteed. Seems like it would accomplish the same thing.

I suppose you could jam a bonus in there, but otherwise you're defeating the purpose of a 2 way deal.

Regardless of 1 or 2 way, it's irrelevant. He's here to push Levi and is high quality depth so we're not waiting on Tokarski to play when UPL dies in November and Levi dies in October.

He's a ton better than Ehlers and more likely to extend in Buffalo than Ehlers. Unfortunately, I think Marner would want more than 9.5.
