Run the numbers. Let's say he signs for 9.5M in Buffalo for 5 years.
9.5-7.14-4.75
6-7.1-4.5
.95-x-.95
6
.8
11-8.35
4.9-3.33
4.3-x
.9
3.75
1.8
Add in Skinner's 4.44 and you're looking at around 91M and you're missing a 3C and a top 6D. Cap is estimated at 92M next year.
Peterka and Quinn are wild cards. Getting Ehlers at 7.5 is easier to manage. - TheSabresTaco
why is either signing here?

One year $1.8 million AAV for Tomas Tatar in New Jersey. - jochfr
Jersey is having a sneaky good offseason. Really like the defensive core they've put together. Don't like giving up on Holtz so quickly, but c'est la vie. |

Per sources, the Carolina Hurricanes are bringing on a new President (of the entire organization) and an announcement could come as early as this week.
Additionally, CMO Mike Foreman is leaving the organization to pursue another career opportunity. |

Holtz has been dookie. - ImThatGuy
He's been very inconsistent from what I hear. He'd do well for a week, then disappear/resort back to the defensive lapses. I'm not sure I want him, we have enough of those guys as it is, but think Vegas got a decent one. Insulated around a good team, he's got one hell of a shot. |

OK, I preface my post with I'm a couple Bourbons in while on my last night in Bellagio, Italy before an early day of cars, trains, trains, trains and taxi to our next location in Italy on the Mediterranean...
I thought last week of Offer Sheeting Byfield since I knew Kevo's Hope's and Dreams would crash and burn in such magnificence that it would only compare to fireworks in a crazed state from too much alcohol. So here we are...
LA Kings are ~$10.8m under the Cap, with three RFA's to sign...Byfield, Kaliyev, Spence...with Evolving Hockey projecting those contracts at: 2x$3.1m, 2x1.8m, 2x$1.2m...so a total of $6.1m, which gives them lots of comfort being $4.1m under the Cap if all goes according to plan.
Well, let's F-up Rob Blake's day/month..
The O/S would need to be high enough so Blake takes the compensation package versus matching the O/S...which he would do unless crazy high.
Byfield is a 21 yo 6'5" 220 Centre with a 1C projection, who is now ascending after a couple of development years in LA under the tutelage of Anze Kopitar and Andre Kempe...playing 1LW. Good teachers of playing the game the right way. Safe to say he his primed to take the next step at C.
Buffalo could use a talent like him at C, and doesn't need to stress him on L1 nor L2...let him find his C game at 3C with Coach Li dy Ruff helping him along his trajectory as a bonafide 1C in a couple years.
So, the O/S needs to be painful yet lucrative for LA to bite on.
An O/S of 2 x $11,450,000 results in at '25-1st, '25-2nd, '25-3rd, '26-1st
An O/S of 2 x 11,500,00 results in 4 1sts...which is likely too much for this organization, maybe not though.?
After 2 years, when Skinners BO escalates, they can rework extension to more reasonable number.
Or, OR threaten Blake with the above and tell him they'll can have Krebs, Joker, B Prospect for Danault.
Time to stop wussy footing around Mr Nice Guy W 0 Guts. |

What do we think of Mattias Maccelli? - QuinnFan
is he an upgrade over quinn, peterka, tuch, or benson
I like him if we are moving one of those 4 for a center or RD but I doubt he is looking for a middle 6 center or 2nd pair d man
he is looking probably to add one more bottom line player, the rieder or lazar type guy |

2027-28: $10M (NTC)
2028-29: $11M (NTC)
2029-30: $8M (20-team NTC)
2030-31: $5M (15-team NTC)

Benson, right now, maybe.
But he'd bring a lot to that 3rd line. Trade Greenway and Clifton/Joker and you're all set, even with our internal cap. Was just running through the list of non NMC players and he stood out. |

I think Krebs is the 3C opening night, and Kulich is probably plan B. They may have just drafted their long term guy. That's how much pressure KA feels.
One thing becoming clear by his moves is that he doesn't feel good about some of the current prospects and how he's drafted.
