Skinner is addition by subtraction. He's not a top 6 player in the other 175 feet of ice. Which is why Carolina let him go for a fully stocked soda machine. The only coach to get it right since he was desperately signed was Kreuger. Let him go... the Sabres are drastically better off not having the highest paid glider in the league telling young entry level players that this type of game is acceptable and lucrative.

You need guys that can score goals. I know it’s a weird concept to think about.

Skinner does have issues on the defensive side. But so do a lot of other good nhl forwards.

Are you trading mcdavid away from the oilers for not having great / amazing defensive zone numbers??

Ron Francis. Seattle GM echoing the same thing Adams said about trading for NHL players.

And I think we all saw that pegula was at the draft / table. So if Adams truly franked up. He would see it 1st hand.

No, you need guys who play the game correctly.
And using McDavid as a comparable..? I don't know his defensive zone numbers but I did watch him during this playoff run and he backchecked more in those 4 rounds than Skinner did in the past 4 years.

The old saying: Forecheck, backcheck, paycheck. Skinner is only one of the 3.

i played with players like him. Internally they drove all of us insane with their weak dogpoop play that cost us games. He's one dimensional and like every opponent said last year in one way or another: A joy to play against.

Well Gents,
I have said this for several weeks now, and we have now arrived at the last day for Kevyn to make an impactful trade that could possible be enough for 1 or 2 decent FA's to give more consideration to Buffalo as a somewhat acceptable team that might be able to do some damage. (Honestly, I do think they are 3 players away and that excludes Girgenson going, which I hope he chooses Pitt).

So make that trade, over pay for Ehlers..unless he told them straight up he doesn't plan to sign longer term...that seems doubtful to me since our insider says "it isn't dead yet". Pay them and realize the overpayment is the price to attract 1 or 2 FA's.

Most good offensive NHL players have below average defense zone advanced stats.

So you yelling at skinner. He’s one of many who has the same struggles.

As for “playing with players like skinner”. I played with Patrick Kane for a majority of his travel career. His defense was nonexistent but would pot 3-4 points. I guess you would hate winning games

On the Sabres Danny briere was not great in his own zone. Trade him too? Vanek as well?

Drury was our only 2 way center and gaustad

Comparing Skinner to mcdavid sure is a wild gambit

You just have to send in the foreskin and you get a pass from the blood drinking ritual.

My point was. If Mcdavid was poor in his own zone. (Which he actually isn’t amazing at)

Would you trade him due to his poor defense?

Jack Eichel on the Sabres was given a hard time for not being a 2 way forward

Instead. He’s an elite center on Vegas and they let him roll

At this point, so what if they won't sign a extension right now. Doesn't mean he doesn't want to play here. Just means he wants to see You TOP 3 Do your F@cking job and add to your Team before they make that commitment. Stop blaming the players for NOT WANTING TO PLAY IN BUFFALO and take responsibility and change the Look.

I am just like you all. I could think of the possibilities, but there is a smug message coming from the top. We will see what happens, but I want you all to know that I at least try to entertain. I am conscious of this nonsense and am appalled at where we are at. Point producers are interchangeable but the mind set of a player is not. General Managers talk about culture in the locker room. What about the culture upstairs who guide the responsibility? These are young guys who are experiencing life at a young age and need guidance. Hopefully after tomorrow we will have more clarity. To all of you who have stuck with me and backed off, I appreciate it. I am here for the ride and enjoy the first comments or so...Lol. Thanks for being passionate. I know a lot of you have legitimate connections. We are on this ride together. This job is a hobby and Hank and the rest knows this. I do enjoy it and want to continue to improve. We all want the best for this team and they need to hear the truth. Keep challenging them until they made us proud.

The difference, as I'm sure you're aware, is they have other factors. Speed, zone entries, play driving, penalty drawing, playmaking. Skinner is a goal scorer who doesn't drive play, doesn't have speed, doesn't forecheck, doesn't produce on the power play. It's not just that his defense is bad, it's that his offense isn't good enough to overcome his defense.

I like Skinner and his goal scoring will need to be replaced but using mcdavid or Eichel in defense of Skinner ain't it.

I honestly can’t imagine any decent free agent signing here. Unless we massively massively over pay.

Can Kane and Stamkos type players say no to 7-10 + mill

Imagine if Adams did this. I wonder how the Blue Jackets fans feel, or don't they care?

Columbus coaching search

With the draft over and the Blue Jackets not anticipating to be too active once the free agency period opens on Monday, Waddell can begin focusing on hiring a coach in Columbus.

“I officially haven’t interviewed anybody yet. I’ve talked to some people,” said Waddell, who took over the Blue Jackets in late May, and fired Pascal Vincent in mid-June.

There’s no rush, Waddell said, noting Columbus is the NHL’s only team without a coach. Waddell previously said he planned on having a list of 12 candidates, before narrowing it to four before starting the interview process.
