I have said that I am all in favour of Bertuzzi not coming back, but how is what Chicago did not tampering? I heard that Tulsky gave teams permission to speak to Pesce - I don't even know if that's true - but did we give permission for teams to speak to Bertuzzi?

The Leafs had to trade a 7th to get rights to talk to Tanev ahead of July 1. Tampa had to trade a 3rd to get rights to talk to Guentzel. Meanwhile Chicago and Jersey are making deals with guys before noon today and announcing it.

I find that problematic when the league goes around and pretends it's going to punish anyone for breaking rules. They don't apply their punishments equally or appropriately at all.

I remember at a certain point the NHL made it so you could talk to players the week before July 1, but couldn’t sign them.

Yeah they stopped that a few years back - I had wondered the same thing, actually. I can't recall when it stopped or why, but I do recall they had a window where teams could talk to pending free agents.

I think Lily will be traded based on how the contract was made.

In an hour and a half it’ll be 3.6M in actual money the next few years.
