Im guessing 6 x 4.25.

Assuming that and Domi's 3.75 ..the Leafs still have about 12.5 to spend on a goalie, a dman, another top9 fwd and a pair of 6/7 dmen.

Guessing a cheap goalie ($2M for Talbot?) and $2M for the 6/7 dmen .....leaves them with 8.5 for another top4 dman and top9 fwd (for me a 3C).

Zadorov at $5M? .....Wennberg at $3.5M? Or are they plugging Domi into C and bringing back Bert?

I've no problem with the Leafs signing him, but 3rd pairing guys need to be paid accordingly.

Some other tweaks like moving Liljegren for picks and finding a taker for Kampf and having Dewar replace him on cheap would add up in space too.

Ya I dumped Lilly out of my mind back in February. Too much $$ on the 3rd pair and not good enough for the top 4.

Dewar can re-sign for $1M (or less) or take a walk too.

No year can be less than 50% smaller than any other. So ya, if he's 5M in year 1 he can only go down to $2.5 in any other year.

Maybe it's 5,5,5,5,2.5,2.5 ....that's how I got to 6 x 4.25 ish. Those last 2 yrs he Island retreats and coaches Ben Danford on how to be Chris Tanev.

I also remember a clause where the difference from one year to the next could only be a 35% drop, so from 5 the lowest it could go the following year would be 3.25.

It's been a few years since I read the CBA though, so I don't know the tweaks they made during COVID.

I'd prefer they sign Edmundson if he can be head on the cheap instead, just from a cap eating perspective.

It came from Dregger so take it with grain of salt. Not really hard to believe. Zadorov is 29 years old and Nucks gave 34 year old Myers (a much weaker player than Zadorov)
3 years at $3M AAV - he was clearly their second choice and is a bigger giveaway machine than Holl.

Yes agreed 3.75 is a good deal for the Leafs.

I disagree about 4 years being too much, he's 29 now and won't be 30 until March.

He wants to play in Toronto that they lack more often than not (jam, being a Richard to the opposition, passion all the time) & having him signed for 4 years makes him part of the solution to change/create/enhance the culture IMO.

But to your point and as always we will see.

Anyone else thinking bring back Soupy as the 1B/1C at league minimum? Someone will sign him as a reclamation project why not Toronto?
