Frank trying to be a narc because he decided to triple down on the Marner situation and looking like he was wrong about it, and having a temper tantrum about the Leafs-

Guys a (frank)ing loser.

- GreatGigInTheSky

He's a whiny twat. Kris Letang signed a 6 yr deal at age 35 ..I doubt Fat Frank cried about that.

https://dailyhive.com/vancouver/canucks-offered-zadorov-5-million-per-season

It came from Dregger so take it with grain of salt. Not really hard to believe. Zadorov is 29 years old and Nucks gave 34 year old Myers (a much weaker player than Zadorov)
3 years at $3M AAV - he was clearly their second choice and is a bigger giveaway machine than Holl.

- winsix

I'll give that link a look-see.

Yeah, Myers is horrible.

Reports out there that Tampa quite literally just offered Stamkos an 8 year deal at $3M per. (frank)ing crickets on that one, though.

But he sees fans talking about what the Leafs could be thinking of doing, and he goes and snitches to Ms. Finster. Gigantic (frank)ing loser.

Literally Frank snitching on the Leafs-

IF, as Dreger is saying the Leafs are still in on Bertuzzi, and assuming Tanev signs, AND apparently Tre is hoping to land another big ticket D....either a big contract is coming off the books somewhere, or someone is willing to do a Giordano deal.
The former seems more likely than the latter. Factor in the Leafs still needing another center (unless Domi is the new 3C), and things just don't add up otherwise.

Bear in mind that Letang's contract is $6.1m in each year.

If the proposals on Stamkos or Tanev start at a higher AAV and then lower to a reduced AAV for a few years at the end, it could be considered a backdiving contract - but it is legal within the revised rules.

You could also make a valid argument that it compensates for a player's reduced performance in their advancing age. Right? Like a 34/35 year old could be producing at a $6m value, but by the time they are 38, 39, 40 you'd argue they're probably providing league minimum value on the ice. In order to balance that, moving from $5m to $2.5m cuts that difference equivalently.

Id target ROy first just because hes a righty. Too many lefties makes the whole system soft and crash
- drexel

I like Roy as well. Wait and see who the Leafs start throwing overboard. Treliving might be looking at adding three d-men to the mix. Tanev, Zadorov and someone else.

3.75 is a good aav
4 years is too much.

But we'll see

- Fakepartofme

Why do you think 4 is too much?

He just turned 29 - so it'll cover his age 29, 30, 31 and 32 seasons. I don't feel that's too long. Especially not for $3.75m with a growing cap. I mean if you assume that $4m in growth year-over-year, it would put his caphit over those years as 4.24, 4.05, 3.89 and 3.73.

Basically he's being paid what Brandon Tanev makes now and will be reducing that into the Jordan Greenway or Scott Laughton territory.

This is a guy who doesn't get PP time; his Pts/60 was 8th in the entire league at 5v5 (McDavid, MacKinnon, Kucherov, Matthews, Pastrnak, Panarin, Crosby, Domi, Hischier, Marner), and he was 2nd in primary assists/60 at 5v5.

He has his warts, but I'm think Domi not only deserved to stay, he deserved an elevated role in the lineup.

Backdiving, from a cap circumvention concern, has more to do with early retirement. Player retires when his contract is down to peanuts and the team wins b/c his whole AAV is off the books (if it started prior to age 35).

Fat Frank is talking about LTIR cap circumvention. So the amount per year really doesn't matter b/c the player still gets paid most of it while on LTIR.

So really Fat Frank doesn't even understand what he's beefing about. You're right he should be talking about early retirement/backdiving and not LTIR.

Rather hope we look elsewhere on Bertuzzi. Wasnt that big on him at all last season. Still not. Not sure though who else is out there other than DeBrusk.

they Kampf and Holmberg who play center
I know those aren't sexy names but they may go with them at first due to cap restrictions

Im okay with Bert back at the right number, you need players of his ilk in your lineup. Debrusk is probably the only comparable out there and he probably costs more.

I would value:

- a player who has demonstrated he can roll with 34 with chemistry vs other teams top lines

- sticks up for teammates

- doesn’t play a shy game

- can play wing and centre

- can play up and down the lineup

- wants to be a Leaf and has a passion for the organization and winning as a member

I’d love to see what Bert Max and AM34 can do playing an entire season. However, I would prefer Debrusk at probably the same deal.

Thats really the thing there. He wasnt really worth that 5.5 last season. If he wants too much, yeah no. Hipefully at least kicking tires on DeBrusk to see but...
