Schmidt on waivers to be bought out, that was no secret. Boqvist said to be going on waivers for buyout. 2.6 cap but 3.2m actual with a 3.12 qualifier |

Brandsegg-Nygard screamed Red Wing in the predraft process and Detroit's exactly where he ends up. The Norwegian's a power winger with a quality shot and is a monster on the forecheck.
A concern is the lack of high-end upside. Brandsegg-Nygard felt like a Detroit pick because the Wings have taken prospects in a similar mold in past years. Detroit lacks game-breakers and didn't add any prospects who have legitimate potential to become that. |

Let’s hope Yzerman doesn’t sign Campbell. Another terrible goalie. |

What happened to that kid? Not a kid any more but seemed like Dallas had something when he was playing for USA. |

The fact that some GMs weren't aware Walman was being shopped with a sweetener is almost a fireable offense. Why wouldn't you reach out to 31 other GMs and gauge interest? This job isn't that difficult. |

If you have come to hate on Yzerman/Red Wings you are in the right place.
If you are a Red Wings "fan" you are not allowed to support or get excited by moves made by the team. Welcome to the cry fest, grab a tissue box and settle in.

Can't you love the team but question the direction and decision-making? Yzerman has made a series of awful signings, questionable trades, and continues to miss on nearly every pick outside the top 10. |

Being a great player automatically means they will be a great manager. That's why everyone knows Gretzky and Jordan were so great after their playing careers ended. So you'll have to be quiet and accept his greatness. |

I tend to agree but Tocchet is the best player of all time and just won the Jack Adams. |

The worst move Yzerman made is the retaining of Lalonde.... Walman dumped for nothing is a close second.... if Gibson or Campbell are brought in forget about another season..... he better accomplish something today because Detroit is simply not a destination spot for many reasons.... personally in today's NHL I wouldn't want the job of gm in Detroit... Firstly, following Holland is simply a disaster.... the team has been in ruin for years..... not to mention the horrible lottery luck..... personally I'm already on the fence about next season, what happens in the next few days will determine how committed I am to even watching the coming season...... |

#LGRW are among teams grinding with their UFAs today - and belief is they've made progress with Patrick Kane. But the next 24 hours are going to be wild. |

Is that the best way to describe the process? Somewhere there is house music blaring while they grind away…. |

Nobody knows the true Walman deal and what the future considerations are, however, what I do know if The Canes have never been paid back for the offer sheet they made on Federov. They did it again to Mtl. It’s time they got a taste of their own medicine and I think Seth Jarvis would be ample payback and it would be better than signing a FA in his 30s, based on their prospect timeline. Pull the trigger Stevie! |

Looks like McIsaac not getting qualified. Probably not a shock, had that stint overseas to try and find his game. Just couldn’t bounce back from the injury bug |

That’s the same thing that was released last year. I heard 3 years on both. Maybe he wants to go year to year at this point. I wish I could be in the room and hear what’s going on. |

Why would Seth Jarvis sign an offer sheet to join Detroit? One reason?
An overpay. Let's use Larkin as a cap. So $8.7M x 7 years. Think Jarvis signs that? Maybe. So is that worth 4 first round picks. Unprotected of course.
Umm, no it's not. Dumb idea. Even Yzerman isn't that dumb. |

Listen, having Kane for a full year is going to help the team, but it emphasizes the need for a more staunch defensive plan for the team. Again, we CANNOT out-score shoddy defense. SOMETHING has to give, here....we have got to improve defensively. |
