Nobody knows the true Walman deal and what the future considerations are, however, what I do know if The Canes have never been paid back for the offer sheet they made on Federov. They did it again to Mtl. It’s time they got a taste of their own medicine and I think Seth Jarvis would be ample payback and it would be better than signing a FA in his 30s, based on their prospect timeline. Pull the trigger Stevie!

Be tougher than woodpecker lips to justify, but there would be some devine retribution right there!!

apparently Guentzel already signed, details not released. TB could do max term since they had his rights. The “guess” in this link is up to 10mx8 years.

They can only give him 7 years…

This Draft & UFA are going to be epic. Was a solid SCPO and we're following it up with "Trouba's going to Detroit!!!" Trouba: "...wait, wut?!?!?!" to JG and Stammer vying for $$$, to Pinto ASKING for an OS!! This is completely outta control!!!

I’m just going off the release. Since they traded for his rights Seravalli is saying they could do 8 if signed today. You may well be right, just passing on what is out there.

This is from that release:

The reported deal will likely check in at an eight-year term with the Lightning owning enough cap space to give Guentzel nearly $10MM annually. Because the team acquired Guentzel’s signing rights earlier today, Tampa Bay became the only team able to sign Guentzel to an eight-year contract. If Guentzel made it to free agency tomorrow, the Lightning would have only been able to offer him a max of seven years — the same as all other suitors.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a press release of a player asking for an offer sheet. That is a nasty game of chicken. Booed on home ice if he stays (maybe they’ll throw rubber snakes if he comes in as a visitor)

Or betting sheets!!!

This has really been off the charts, Jeremy. I'm impressed with the excitement, but you've been on it and had some sharp updates from some smart regulars here.

Think we tanked w/our #1, to the point of several but time will tell (not expecting 1st-line capability....), but seeing some very positive feedback on some later picks, Plante, Becher, & Forslund are being highly touted, we shall see but looks good. ..and we took another G?!?!? I was really hoping for Helenius, still not sure why Eiserman fell so far so fast.....

Just insane!!

Why would Seth Jarvis sign an offer sheet to join Detroit? One reason?

An overpay. Let's use Larkin as a cap. So $8.7M x 7 years. Think Jarvis signs that? Maybe. So is that worth 4 first round picks. Unprotected of course.

Umm, no it's not. Dumb idea. Even Yzerman isn't that dumb.

Center, better overall stats than Raymond, Stutzle and everyone else in the draft. Better defensive player than any center in the draft. His own mother wouldn’t pay enough to trigger 4 first round picks. Canes will offer him 7x$4m to 4.5, offer him 6 to 7, if Canes match, it hurts them long term (payback), if they don’t, Wings get a legit long-term center for a 1st, 2nd and 3rd. BTW, it was more of a joke than anything, no way would Yzerman rock anyone’s boat when there are plenty of mid-6 Scandinavians to draft.

I’m almost certain you have to own a players rights by the trade deadline to be able to offer an 8 year deal.

Umm, sorry, you're way off base. Carolina isnt going to insult him with a 7 year deal at $4M. And if anyone offered him $6-7M he wouldnt sign it. Even if someone had a gun to his head and he signed, Carolina would instantly match and send you a gift basket for helping lock up a young player like him at a bargain rate. If you want Jarvis long term it's $8-10M. Therefore an offer sheet isn't realistic. So a pointless discussion.

You may be right, like I said. Just passing on what was put out. I’ll completely own the mistake if that’s the case.

I have to sleep at some point, but it sounds like Bert is back on the open market and Robertson asked for a trade out of Toronto. I honestly don’t know what tomorrow is going to be like but it sounds like a lot of stuff will hit “the books” early in the day

Wings instagram saying Kane signed - sounds like it is the 1 year deal

$4MM base salary
$1.5MM at 10 games played
$250K at 60 games played
$500K if his team makes the playoffs
$250K if he records 60 points and his team makes the playoffs

The plan was to flip him at the deadline. So maybe they do that this year. Maybe get the 2nd round pick we wasted on Walman.

His bonus structure this time incentivizes making playoffs, for what it’s worth. Pushes up to 2.5m to next season’s cap

TB can't do 8 yrs per CBA, Jake would have to have been there since the TDL.

That goes with what Feds said. I’ll take the “L”. Relayed what was written, and if that’s how it shakes out fully willing to be wrong.

That part hasn’t been filled in, just the base salary and bonus structure

Tyler Bertuzzi won’t be returning to the Maple Leafs. His value has out priced Toronto. He will land a deal elsewhere in the 4 year and over $5 mil per territory. Dreger

Would Y be interested?

No worries at all. Just want to make sure I own it when I make a bad call or pass on bad info.

As for Bert, part of me would love to see him but I have no clue what the $ available are and what the ask is. Hoping Seider and Razor get announced soon
