List of RHD is pretty much picked over already. I guess Yzerman will have to make a trade for one now and spend assets. If he stand pat with this defense then it won't matter how many scoring forwards he brings in, they won't outscore that crappy defense by much and likely still fail to make the playoffs.

Guy is streaky, was absolutely terrible for the Sens and was not much better for Minny before that. He wa not bad with LA though. But to see that Talbot, our D has to get better.

They have zero faith in Husso so they will plan to carry 3 goalies. This is definitely better than overpaying for someone like Gibson.

Have to be patient with goalies. Cossa is definitely on track to be an NHLer.

Yzerman said at the draft they would look for a #3 goalie which is fine but you don't pay a #3 goalie 2.5 mil for 2 years and a #3 goalie is usually a goalie that gets sent down to the AHL that you can call up when an injury hits. This looks like a waste of cap space and roster spot to me. Talbot's numbers are going to take a major dive behind this defense.

There is still some concern that Husso isn’t going to be healthy. This could be a situation like last year where one of the 3 is on the shelf for a chunk.

Carolina is oddly quiet. They lost Pesce after they wanted him back, Guentzel was apparently burned out on the negotiation process. They have a lot of work going on, no clue if Necas wants out or if they’re just “whittling” a deal
