But wait, most of the scouting reports you read were from the first half of the season. Luchenko had a monster 2nd half of the season and had a monster combine. So what scouts saw at the start of the season would have been very different to what they would have seen by the end of the season. I think Luchenko has the potential to be a 1C, otherwise the Flyers would not have picked him over Buium and Helenius. I think its fair to track all three players and see what happens. And hey, if Helenius and Buium turn out to be better players than Luchenko, I will be the first to say Briere eff'd up. But right now, I can't begin to think that way. I trust Flahr and his scouts.

Luchanko got better as the season went on for sure. He went from a consensus 2nd or 3rd rnd pick to a first round chatter….but regardless he more then likely would have been there at 20….if they liked him so much they could of traded up from 32…I loved that they took a hand on Michkov…to me they should have done the same thing with Buium…roll with the chance to draft elite type skill sets .

Well, Buium was the 6th defenseman taken off the board .. was he really that standout 1D that was picked go in the top 5 picks? That is all I am saying. Buium might turn out to be better than Drysdale and York, and Luchenko may be a bust pick. But then again maybe not. Its impossible to tell at this point, and thus the Briere bashing on this forum is unwarranted at this point.

I especially bought into Hextall’s plan until it was apparent it had plateaued and was starting to go in the wrong direction…. Liked a couple of Fletchers early moves then it was followed by a bunch that were both contradictory and inept. With Briere I like the early chatter on building things the right way. I just don’t see and haven’t seen his actions match the Philadelphia Flyers PR department’s marketing campaign of a rebuild…so he’s added some draft capital by taking on bad contracts and $…after watching him in action at the draft Color me as sceptical at best he will not butcher the next draft like I fear he did this one. I’m just judging on what I see not what’s being told to us because those are two very different things.

We all know what a circus this has been and continues to be. We knew it’d be like this when their president/GM search ended with Jonesy and Briere. The alumni comes before the team. It will continue to do so until Comcast wakes the (frank) up.

What moves did you want the Flyers to make today? Yes Hathaway will play but Johnson hopefully will only play when there are injuries (yes, Risto and JD are likely to get hurt). Back to Hathaway, I think he was relied on too much, but he doesn't hurt the team. There's always going to be a few vets in the lineup, especially with Torts. It's not that big of a deal.

The Flyers will never do a full rebuild no matter how much the "fans" on HB want it. People keep going to games, buying merch, etc, so they will always try to stay somewhat competitive to keep their paying customers happy. I'm torn bc I want to see a Cup before I die or can't enjoy it, but I also don't want to see bad Flyers games. I'm looking forward to seeing Michkov play and hope things shape up over the next few years.
