A retooling team would get extra 1st round picks but also spend over the cap ceiling, keep veterans around because they're so good for the "culture", and try and sneak into the playoffs.

Did people already forget that Hextall had two first rounders in 2017 and 2018? We've seen this all before.

looking currently and in the future, not sure how anyone can really put a positive spin on this team/organization.

As far as Buium….Gostisbehere? Did anyone ever say Ghost was an above average elite skater? the Flyers “reached for Lachanco….I’m not sure it’s being disputed except by the Local media and guys like you. A team rebuilding does not “reach” in the 1rst round. They draft kids like Buium.
After watching how they treated this years 1rst round how can anyone have confidence in this management team with three picks next year….guys on here we’re hoping for the Flyers not to make the playoffs this year so they could get a better pick? Then he took a guy they could have got had they made the playoffs anyways?lol.
The organization is selling Briere as this young, smart executive…I see a guy who hasn’t accomplished zilch and has made a bunch of questionable decisions that will (frank) this team going forward….they talk that it’s a rebuild but they haven’t made any move that say rebuild except the ones they were forced into.

2025 looks amazing for their picks, but don't most rebuilding teams try to do that for multiple years while they shed vets that don't fit future plans?

They kind of did that for 2024, but technically they just delayed a 1st to the next year (which I love the deal even if it's just a chance to get a better pick in a deeper draft). When all is said and done the 2024 draft was a waste other than adding low end depth.

Do you see them doing the same in 2026 like they are doing in 2025? One year stockpiling isn't really a rebuild unless you hit on just about everything.

Calgary had a pretty successful draft though. They accumulated some pretty nice prospects with high ceilings. Zayne Parekh, Matvei Gridin, Andrew Basha, Henry Mews, Luke Misa and Jacob Battaglia are all pretty great picks.

Think positive that will allow the team to make logically sound decisions!

How good Carolina was the last few years is an outlier. Waddell is trash.

Bottom 5 is the preference. Even if the Flyers finish in last it doesn't guarantee them a #1 pick, but does guarantee a top 3 pick. That's why placement is important.
