Stolarz had a really good year with Florida. 9.25 Sv% over 27 games has to be among the best in the NHL Wait and see.

If you combine his and Wolls NHL highs for games played in a season, you still need another goalie to start 30 games. Which is bonkers.

This is one of those things everyone turns a blind eye to and then is pissed when it doesn't work out. Thinking we at least get to see what the Hildebeast is made out of this year.

Liljegren likely gets traded at the TDL for an upgrade.

Leafs D is still not good enough.

imo

- senstroll

Exactly this. Nothing the Leafs have done has made them good enough to win a round. They need to stop getting mid pickups and band aid solutions that don't move the needle.

Montour would have moved the needle maybe ( if you believe he is very good offensively). Tanev is good, I like him, but he isn't pushing the Leafs forward. People keep mistaking why the Leafs have lost.

They lost aas they didn't score enough on the PP, and in general. They need more production from their dmen. Tanev and OEL( at this stage) aren't moving the needle IMO.

That includes Webber… he won’t be staying with the club… so add his $875K

Thank you Dozzer...hence my 2.955" cap space

but nowwww - .875 aav for G Matt Murray , so now down to 2.080

11 fwds / 8 def / 3 goalies (pretty much a full team - maybe Skinner @ 2.00 aav

but they still have to sign/tender an offer for Robertson & Dewar

- paulozz

Robertson is being traded, Dewar will be at about the league minimum. Leafs can go $10M over the cap in the off season.

Or... wait for it... they simply play more games between the two of them?

We haven't won a round because our eleventy billion dollar forward group can't score in the playoffs.

Saw this on the Twitter and the tweet also said it doesn't include Dewar or Robertson (who asked for a trade), any rookies, or Timmins. And says there's $4M CAP space like that.

If they can trade out $4.5M in Kampf and Jarnkrok, there's decent space to make a good addition.

Is there any good guys left to sign? Or would it need to be a trade?

Stolarz, maybe... Sure.

You can't get Woll to 30 games without him being hurt, I'm willing to bet forcing a bigger workload on him isn't the ticket, literally his entire career at any level. He took a 6-8 week injury this year and made it 12 weeks.

Goaltending is total voodoo man, who the (frank) knows what's going to happen.

Murray could hail mary at the 11th hour and lead us on a deep playoff run for all we (frank)ing know.

I'd rather rock a cheap tandem then swing for the fences on a huge trade, huge cap hit, huge term, that's 50/50 at best.

Oh man I disagree - if there is a move to make (and the word was there was) you use what you need to shore up that spot….Marner, Coleen, Minten, etc.

At this stage in the process (year 9) the Leafs should have either locked down their dcore or their tender situation. You can’t be mediocre in both areas and expect to compete for a Cup.

Down the Middle
Goaltending
Defence

Those 3 areas to me is what wins (depth wise).

Tanev and OEL are good adds for sure! But not close to enough with the way the forward group plays defence and the tenders. It’s not like Berube can make poor defensive forwards become good quickly. In most cases it’s not an effort thing (at Pro level…MOST cases) it’s a skill set thing. He’s a good coach but he can’t be that good.

The only thing that turn it around would be moving Mitchy (which I wouldn’t hold my breath) to fix the dcore and the now worse forward group. I’m not a fan of Gregor or Robertson and I know some don’t like Bert - but at the end of the day him being gone and not replacing him makes the forward group worse.

Tanev, stupid contract. At his age and health, they just made the Muzzin mistake all over again. He's a good 2nd pair D but they'll overuse him on the top pair like idiots.

OEL, good deal. Hopefully he can score 10-15 goals and help the PP. But defensively, not the strongest guy at preventing goals. They have to use him properly or it could blow up in their face.

Woll, too much money for having proven so little.

Stolarz sucks for what they needed which is a 1A/B. Better off with Talbot for basically the same price. At least Talbot has experience as a starter for when Woll eventually gets hurt again.

Leafs management is just incompetent.

OEL:

"This past regular season, OEL put up overall strong numbers, tilting the ice in shot attempts (56.14 percent) and expected goals (54.33 percent) and outscoring opponents 49-40. He also scored nine goals and 32 points. A Leafs defenseman hasn’t scored at least nine goals since Morgan Rielly put up 10 in the 2021-22 season. OEL owns a good point shot; he can both sift it through traffic and hammer the puck if he has a clean look."

Let's add more refrigerators to the back end though.

the Leafs lost in game 7 OT after missing Nylander and Matthews for extended periods and Woll missing game 7, but we need to burn the whole f@cking thing to the ground. Leaf fans are insane!

Yup. Not scoring goals is the biggest reason we don't win.

And the D not being able to get the puck to the forwards has been a real problem. The D now, while not super amazing, can definitely move the puck better than before.

He’s not the starter. He’s not the backup. He’s their 3rd guy and he’s basically free, especially if he starts on the Marlies roster. If he’s needed and he’s healthy, he’s as good as they’re going to get.

Very little downside.

Yeah, and nothing changes around here, with some of the HB "fans": everything is awful, all the time.

Dim intellects, can't process how and why things are done in the real life by grown-ups.
