Talbot, yes. He's proven he can be a starter. Stolarz has never played more than 28 games in a season. And he's 30.

Campbell has sucked but at least he's played 40+ games before. The Leafs needed a "back-up" who could become a starter for long periods of time that Woll is injured for.

If Stolarz was an insurance policy, they basically paid for one with 30% coverage but paying full price for it.

the Leafs lost in game 7 OT after missing Nylander and Matthews for extended periods and Woll missing game 7, but we need to burn the whole f@cking thing to the ground. Leaf fans are insane!

I think the point is, the Leafs Always lose in game 7. They can’t get it done, ever. When it matters, they never get it done. Nobody is saying burn the whole franking thing down but obviously something, franking something, has to change. Leafs keep rotating support players and it doesn’t work. Matthew’s, Nylander and MM are the softest highly paid players in the league, and Berube isn’t going to make them tougher.

Leafs have 7 goalies for two teams. A couple have to be healthy at any given time.

oh its actually cheaper this season. Woll is 800k. not 3.5

keeping in mind this season is a cap crunch year. esp if they keep MArner.

next year its a lot better

everyone in the division contending with the leafs got weaker. detroit, ottawa , buffalo and montreal still suck. you could argue boston got better but lost Ullmark.

They didn't need him, they got Swayman and Korpisalo is a solid split partner.

Boston's system always works well and they added some pieces that will work well with them.

I'm not saying Zadorov is the next Chara but Chara's career took a giant turn when he joined that team because their system improves players instead of asking them to do more they're capable of.

Agreed. We've upgraded 2 defense positions, and frankly, I'd rather have Stolarz than Samsonov.
So three positions improved, 2 in the places we needed it most, all with minimal real cap space, and everyone is poopting on the GM.

Yeah I'm interested to see what Stolarz can do. Have a better mix on d too with Tanev,McCabe,Benoit the muscle and Reilly and Oel moving the puck. I will admit I could have done without Lilly but we shall see.Webber intrigues me as well.

Stolarz hasn't played more than 28 games in a season and he's 30 so it's not like he has untapped potential. He pretty much is what he is. A big body that lets in bad goals and can't be trusted to play more than 20 games. That's not the goalie the Leafs need for when Woll gets injured.
