You literally misread everything I said.

If you take what’s out of the picture, because what they got at expansion has never been seen before, nor will (likely) ever be seen again.

So compared to the likes of Columbus, Nashville etc, I think Seattle will become more competitive, more quickly.

I agree with you, the contracts signed July 1 will be problematic in a few years........could have been worse.

Seattle should be in the playoff mix moving forward if they can draft properly.

Aah Smashville came outta the gate pretty decent & a PO team for years with far less of a pool of unprotected players to pick from . Try again. Seattle well on their way to being CBJ west if they don’t smarten up & trying to be a later lottery team.

Sorry, missing the playoffs for the first five seasons, never recording more than 80 points, then losing in the first round for the next five seasons is "try again"?

They have a wealth of quality young prospects, and will be a good team in the next couple seasons. I'm not happy about their UFA contracts but I'd say they're positioned pretty well considering the division they play in.

I guess because he will get pushed down the depth chart and $5m seems like a lot for a third liner.

It's a little high. It's a huge overpay for a team that misses the playoffs but not outrageous for a playoff team with designs on the division and conference.

Is petey really then only bad contract on the entire team? It may not be bad in future either

On that note would you do Pinto and Chabot for Petey?

Agree, I just wonder if he will be able to contribute as much if he’s playing lower in the lineup. Some 50 point guys can still get 50 points if they’re given the task of driving the line, instead of being carried by better players. Is Garland that guy? I certainly don’t know, just thinking he might be the next bit of business they want to correct.

Garland drove the 3rd line pretty much most of the season. He also came through in the playoffs. He’s fine repeating that this season. Though won’t be surprised if RT also plays him with Petey.

Fliers on Comtois and Boqvist would be my choices
- shutout47

Both those guys would make for interesting adds.

There's also Tyson Barrie, could grab him at 1 mil or less, would be able to run the PP if Hughes or Hronek were injured at any point this year

Kylington? Not a midget, can move the puck, coming back from mental health break, still young... and most importantly, Swedish.

Would be into Kylington.
Can we afford him tho?

I can see the need for a puck moving Dman to play on the bottom pair.
Might have to go bargain bin shopping

Him and Calgary were trying to work something out.. apparently he wants a bit of a raise on his 2.5 mil, but not sure as the summer progresses he'll keep holding out? Probably can get more out of a worse team, but if he wants to play in Sweden Jr for a winning club, Allvin can bring him over....

Would prefer a more proven point producer personally

Ya, don't think you're gonna get a guy this late that has a great proven track record that doesn't have big warts that will come in cheap. I think they just need a more capable puck mover on the back end to go alongside the big tall dudes they signed... not someone who's gonna light it up on the scoresheet, just someone to skate/transition/pass the puck well enough for the forwards to do their thing.

Barrie could be had for less than 1 mil I bet. Local guy, proven point producer. Not saying he's a great defenseman, but as a 7th guy who can produce on the PP, decent option.
