Barrie could be had for less than 1 mil I bet. Local guy, proven point producer. Not saying he's a great defenseman, but as a 7th guy who can produce on the PP, decent option.

The org doesn’t want lazy smurfs. Did you notice the D were all 6’4 or taller ?

Thus leaving room for an extra guy who is undersized

They seem satisfied with Julsen and Friedman as 7/8. Perhaps if Hughes or Hronek get injured

I’m more concerned with 5/6.

Personally I'd be happy with that, let them play 10-15 minutes on the PK and are just there to block shots and dump the puck out. Let the top 4 deal with offense and moving the puck. You want a pair that can make forecheckers think twice about trying to go into the corners to retrieve pucks and are able to crush and clear the net of players trying to get into position for tips in front of Demko (or whoever is our backup netminder who's playing) and keep all shots to the outside and clear rebounds.

That’s the system the team has chosen. Big defensive defenders and fast forwards to clog up the neutral zone. Look at the trash defence the panthers just won a cup with. It’s a league wide trend

Some decent signings by the management group.
Sure glad the hockeybuzz fans don't have a say, or this team will be softer than melted butter, after seeing some of the names mentioned on here, like Kylington and Barrie. Some of you should be ashamed of yourselves.

As opposed to a team of tall, heavy but slow hitters that have hands of stone? Generally smaller, lighter players tend to be faster and more skilled. That said balance is needed.

Barrie is hot garbage unless on the PP
Tony DeAngelo is a richard of massive proportion, but is probably the best offensive Dman left unsigned. Has put up over 50 points and can get 40's again in the right situation. Had a 1.675 mil deal last year, but was in Rod the Bods doghouse and stuck behind a very deep core in Carolina. Offer league min, get Toc, Foote and Gonch to smarten him up and there is your 2nd pair puck mover.

A good July 1st. Added size, grit, playoff performers, depth, top 6 skill... no outrageous contracts. My confidence remains. No complaints from me.

I never thought for a minute they would be able to retain Lindholm and Zadorov. I'm only going to miss the later to be honest. The Lindholm trade wasnt a bust, but I'm not very big on it either...

Is petey really then only bad contract on the entire team? It may not be bad in future either

On that note would you do Pinto and Chabot for Petey?

Kylington? Not a midget, can move the puck, coming back from mental health break, still young... and most importantly, Swedish.

My issue as well unless top 4 play most of minutes. Bottom pair on PK

More than impressed after letting Kuz Mik Laff Lindy and Bg Z go.

I'd say this mngt group has adressed the needs of the club.

Well done!!
