In reality. Best thing for this team this year is more torts and rocky thompson. Torts shtick will get super old in that locker room when the losing continues. Rocky Thompson has about as much offensive acumen as buddy ryan

as much of a fan as I am and as tied to the team as I am - I cannot get behind the OT usage and I cannot get behind Rocky Thompson.

i appreciate the civil discourse.

we will disagree on buium/jett and that's ok. i personally can understand why danny would skip another college prospect with cutter's agent. at least putting some time in between the cutter debacle and this pick. will he operate that way for the rest of his tenure? not sure - but I think it's reasonable not to go down that road again, at least until the sting of cutter wanting out lessens.

Is hockey a business?
Are agents not businessmen?
Are players not in business?

It’s all a business at nhl level. They all have desputes. No one is not blacklisting anyone. It’s simply false narrative and if db we’re truly to blacklist an agent he should be fired immediately as that would be horrible business.

So assume flyers get #1 pick next year and the cutter agent is the #1 players agent then what? Db should pass on him because cutter fiasco that db himself had 100% complete control over? And you’d understand why he did it?

Well of course I do. That doesn't mean that I have to give it, as you claim. It's been one stupid statement after another from you. You are woefully uninformed. A list of players on Chicago other than Bedard that are worth a dam have been given to you. Like I said, do some research and educate yourself. Or continue making a fool of yourself. Your choice and it doesn't matter to me.

Some initial Xweets from prospect camp is that Jett can fly and is looking good. Bonk called him a special player. So while we were all a bit take back by the pick, at least an all-too-early and super small sample size indicate a positive vibe.

you hope DB sees something, hockey IQ, speed and skating make up for a lot of other things, especially with a very young player.

Food for thought to the tk please sign him people marchessault just got 5 years5.5 per. Just example of player that produces on about same pace as tk. Both miss 10-15 games a year think marchy scores a few more goals than tk but tk brings other things and tk is 5 years younger.

Just a quick example that this 8 year deal 8-9 mil per isn’t needed

optics play a large part of any business, no? the risk of another player publically stiffing your organization would be bad for business, no? he was the last of those dmen available. we didn't move up to get Jett. if they like Jett the player I have no problem with them going down that road instead, all things considered. why risk getting embarrassed again? for a defenseman that dropped to #12 for some reason?

obviously if we are talking about a #1 pick we'd be talking about a completely different scenario and I don't think that should or would be a deciding factor.

He very well might see something. Personally I’m not crucifying him for the Jett pick and he could be right. Hopefully he is right on Jett. He is younger maybe they got a steal.

My problem is the history of the organization picking what most wouldn’t and being wrong. And usually there’s some outdated reason they go down that path that concerns me.

Honestly if he weren’t extending these seelers ej gh and traded players like tk laughts etc I’d have much more faith in him and plan. More willing to say poop this dude really rebuilding and give him the benefit of doubt with a long leash. Instead it’s a very very short leash

Scott Laughton, who has been in trade rumors for what seems like forever, is still on the team. HockeyViz’s model grades him as one of the worst players in the NHL, which is obviously very bad. Despite that and Hathaway and Seeler having contracts, Laughton seems like he is here to stay.

Did GH get any trade protections on his ext?

I think there's really nothing wrong with a lot of these signings but I do hope they come with contingencies.

Poehling is great assuming you move Laughton. At this point I'd like to move on from DLo (possibly the worst skating stride in the league if you can call it that) which makes the Hathaway signing make more sense. I like Seeler and the signing would make sense if Risto can be moved. I loved the Tippett ext because as soon as I saw a handful of games I said "that's your TK replacement right there" so that's a great deal assuming you move TK.

If you move TK, Laughton, Risto and rid yourself of DLo I think these moves are great. Lot of "ifs" but I think moving out some players can make sense of these. I can only hope Danny follows through.

They continue to hold on to the delusion that they can win and rebuild simultaneously.

They overvalue “culture” along with experience to the detriment of building a contender. Replacing Fletcher with Briere is optics pure and simple. Flahr is still running the scouts, development is still a mess, Lappy is still running the farm club and a cheerleader sits at the top of the hockey ops dept.

Hilferty can chat with all the fans he wants and God Emperor Tortorella can continue his passive/aggressive pseudo tough guy bs, but nothing has changed nor will it.

New era of orange my ass, they are well on their way to a 2nd decade of mediocrity and irrelevance.

Well to be fair what’s the narrative been ? Need elite top end talent right?
Many have said zeev has that. Some said he’s gonna be top dmen from draft right? Some said could be best player outside celibrini right?

What’s the difference between some 12 pick or #1? Why would you NOT risk that? Because of some illogical mythical might be scenario that causes embarrassment? Maybe? Nobody would’ve been having any of that. Had he drafted zeev (who many compare to Quinn Hughes) the narrative would’ve been nothing but jumping for joy at the steal of the draft.

And don’t be fooled for a 2nd there never was a question about zeev character why would he risk his future because same agent as friend cutter. They’re all friends. He would’ve been thrilled to be taken by Philly. What did zeev say when he was drafted? “I just wanted to see who wanted me”. All excited. Sounds like just what we need

Well the common thing I hear for tk staying is having talent play along side him.

5 year deal at 5.5 mil sounds a lot better than 8/8-9 mil per for very comparable player production wise

Honestly what % do you think db follows through with all that he’s done?

If the Penguins draft Ovie over Malkin, they’re on the same ship they’ve always been on. Ovie is the healthier player and better scorer than Malkin. Pens also had Jordan Staal, who was as good as any two way center. They drafted Marc-Andre Fleury at number 1. Penguins were always in the right place at the right time, almost as if the league planned it.

serious question - if they move TK where will you all be on the rebuild? they can still move laughton in the next year or 2 if they don't feel like they're getting fair value now. no reason to give him away at this point.

but those are the 2 contracts that must go IMO.

I would feel fine.

Here is the thing. Not a fan of the Jett pick as I wanted Buium. But ok.

I do like they got another 1st in 2025 as it is supposed to be a better draft.

Moving Konecny and Laughton help in they can bring pieces back but also it helps this team be a team angling for a top 5 pick in 2025 and 2026. Those moves and getting those picks would help the rebuild and also you can then build your roster around Michkov.
