yeah it was something along the lines of "there are people who will cry every day about <4% of the cap and then there are people who have things to do every day"

by all means, have at it. seems healthy.

Are people really crying over Hathaway getting a 25k raise? Who cares he got 2 more years. I thought people wanted them to be bad to get a high draft picks.

The Flyers currently have 3 fist round pick next year. Maybe they trade a player or 2 to pick up more picks. TK would be a juicy trade bait at the trade deadline. Laughton can get maybe a second, definitely a 3rd.

It is not your traditional rebuild, DB does not believe in tanking like the sixers did and building a culture of losing. Sixer fans are still waiting for that team to be champions.

After next season TDA and Petersen will be gone
In 2 years Hayes and Atkinson will be off the books.
When they are ready to sign MM to a new contract,: Laughton, RR, Ellis and Hathaway will be gone.

Hopefully by then, some of their draft picks are playing in the NHL and and they will have money to spend on free agents.

It is a 25K raise based on a salary the was a million too high to begin with...

as stated, in PA it is only $30k for every million in salary. It is a pimple, but the agents absolutely make it a thing and dumb GMs, which we know a little bit about, fall for this

The tax thing is such a small factor it’s not even worth mentioning to those making like 2 mil or more a year. It’s like saying I got this great job…. AND MY OWN PARKING SPACE!!! While it’s nice to have the parking space it’s not even remotely a thing in considering the job.

Every game check gets taxed in the city/state where the game was played. So yes yes those in no tax get a break but it’s not a 82 game across the board break. Just like rangers high tax state have 41 home games only. The tax rate players pay per games across the league 100% is not the major factor especially those making millions. What’s more determining is location preference travel family etc etc etc. I kinda wish someone would breakdown the tax % per city/state for teams.

For example Tampa Dallas both no tax states. So 41 home games. But what’s the road games? Where? Tax rates?

I bet bottom dollar when all is said and done there’s not a huge difference in the grand scheme. Now canadien teams may have a complaint? Idk their tax laws regarding taxes in other country games played. Maybe they pay tax their even if they play game in Tampa? Or get taxes by USA city for game played there. No idea. Either way when making millions it’s not the major deciding factor and this big ass reason. What’s more likely is making millions and being in warm area. With beaches. And such. Especially when family involved

Flyers interest in Kailer Yamamoto?
Flyers are looking for a center to play with Michkov, but Yamamoto is a speedy playmaker on the wing.

MM can't be just as good as Bedard for one simple reason, he doesn't play a cornerstone position. Crosby, McDavid, Stamkos, Bedard are centers. Wingers simply aren't though of as highly as centers. Regardless how well he does in the future, he's just never going to be that guy.

MM is valuable and could end up being the most valuable player on the Flyers but he's not a cornerstone. The Flyers do not understand roster building and never will.

Think about this, the Blackhawks had the #2 overall draft pick this year and there were no combination of players or picks the Flyers could've offered for it. Why? Because the Blackhawks were going to draft their second cornerstone player, a potential #1 franchise defenseman and those guys are worth their weight in gold. What good is having all these extra draft picks if they can't buy you what you need? Getting to 4th this year would've cost MORE than 3 1sts and according to Bill they might've drafted Jett at that spot.

No, the Flyers only hope is that projected exceptional players at cornerstone positions fall to them like Buium but even then there's no guarantee they will recognize it.

I guess Washington did it wrong? Ovie has been the face of that franchise since he was drafted.
I’m not saying MM is Ovie or a generational talent.

What about taxes overall in terms of cost of living?

Cheaper is Florida than say NY and other places?

Is it safe to assume that in your eyes, Konecny is no longer the face of the franchise. No longer the player to build the team around? How many weeks ago were you stating that?
- MJL

I will state it again since you are a complete cement-head - I love TK and want him to stay on the Flyers. I believe he could be the captain of the team and thus the face of the franchise. However if he thinks he is the same class of player productively wise as other players in the $10M range for 8 years then he is dilusional. What I said about TK was before it came out what his camp is looking for in their next contract and before Michkov was coming here. If his contract demands are true, the Flyers should move on from him. Nothing has changed from my perspective except what new info has come out, and based on that new info I would be stupid not to adapt my perspective. You see, I may want it to be sunny every day, but when I wake up and see dark, ominous clouds above, I know its going to rain. Unlike you that just expects to wake up and see dark, ominous clouds.

Who on their current roster is worth much besides Bedard? Bertuzzi is a fine player but doesn't move the needle.

Is Florida cheaper? Cost of living in Buffalo is a lot less than Tampa or Miami area or Dallas etc etc etc

I’d think when making millions like most nhl players while yes taxes and cost of living probably is a consideration for sure like many things the more important consideration is location weather maybe entertainment maybe more things along lifestyle and or family

I agree with you. I wouldn't go that far. Also can add Kucherov in TB. If I had a choice, I'd prefer a center over a winger but an elite winger can certainly be a cornerstone player. Mikko Rantanen is another example.

Again if you see what other teams CLEARLY DID AND ARE DOING. And you see time and time again the results that those moves or actions bring then I ask you this

If Philly continues to do the opposite and you know this why logically DO YOU GIVE THEM THE BENEFIT OF TGE DOUBT? That’s a cop out. That’s sucking them off. You KNOW the result. You’ve seen it. The only logical thing to do is not only criticize those moves but to not accept it. You don’t give the benefit of doubt. That’s stupid.

If I touch a hot stove and get burned and you watch me do it 6 days in a row on the 7th day when I go to touch the hot stove and I look at you and tell you I won’t get burned this time do you give me the benefit of the doubt I am right? Or do look at me and say man this is 1 dumb mother (frank)er

- Stayin alive

I am going to wait until the off season completes and see what this team is at training camp. If moves are not made between now and then and the Flyers are bringing back essentially the same team I will be concerned; but not because I think they will be bad, but because I think they will be too good, especially as Michkov develops throughout the season.

I am fine with targeting the 2025 draft, but I will state it again, what good does it do for the Flyers to have 3 1st round picks if they are picking 15th, 22nd and 27th? If Briere and Jones realy believe the 2025 draft is a very important draft and they have to get it right, the best thing they can do is move out some veteran players that other teams want, gain even more draft capital and make sure their pick is in the top 10. They have to sacrifice this season to give themselves the best chance to get elite talent to play with Michkov. My concern is I don't believe Jones, Briere and certainly Torts are willing to do that. We'll see if any trades happen.

Well of course I do. That doesn't mean that I have to give it, as you claim. It's been one stupid statement after another from you. You are woefully uninformed. A list of players on Chicago other than Bedard that are worth a dam have been given to you. Like I said, do some research and educate yourself. Or continue making a fool of yourself. Your choice and it doesn't matter to me.

Being captain of the team does not make him the face of the franchise …. If they were to sign him and give him the “C” mm would still be the face of the franchise

For me its not about their current roster in Chicago, its about the players they are developing in their farm system. They have made some very nice picks and in a few years are going to have oodles of talent playing along side Bedard. Who do the Flyers have developing in their system to play with Michkov right now, maybe Bonk and Luchenko who are boht aobut two years away? That's the difference. Briere needed to be more aggressive in this draft IMO once Michkov was coming over to accelerate getting good players ready to play with him.

Interesting that you're calling me a cement head while continuing to show that you don't have the first clue of what a face of the franchise player is.

You really should develop your own material. That's how unintelligent you are.

well you asked what does he think about DBs trades... what trades? the 32nd pick? good trade.

i like hathaway and so does the team. it's clear you and others don't. you're out on a ledge over $2.4 mil. if you want to think the sky is falling over his 2.7% of the cap with others on a message board daily - have at it. like i said, seems healthy.

I'm not crazy about EJ but it's a nothing burger. a warm body in case of injuries. i'd almost rather have walker back tbh. god forbid he'd block some of these kids that are really busting down the door to get on the team

if DB does something good you all say "well DUH! he SHOULD HAVE done that!" so he gets no credit. When he does something you don't agree with, no matter how miniscule, you feign outrage because I guess it feels good? I really can't answer that for you.
