It’s just annoying cause If it happens how do they replace him? All the free agent d men are gone. They don’t have many good trade assets. Are they trading for a d man and a top line RW? It just doesn’t add up anymore. At this point it probably makes more sense to stay and do it all again next offseason

With Trouba saying he wont play anywhere he is traded this year, very much so puts the kibosh on it. As far as enforcing the contract, he will still owe 2 years of service I would assume. He could just say he is taking time away for family matters.

Jimmy with not knowing what Igor and Laf get with there new contracts. Hypothetical we sit tight and next season we finally move Trouba or buy him out is it a possibility that Miko Rantanen is an option for the Rangers to approach. He’s a UFA after this season. I would offer that guy 12 mill per.

I think anything is possible. Hopefully cap takes big jump next year.

Wasn’t it projected to have another 4 million jump? A big jump in the cap would be nice

Would be nice if the rangers could knock out the Igor extension this summer so it’s not a hot topic all season. And don’t want him hitting ufa so other teams can drive up the price even more

Waiving Goodrow hasnt helped either, supposedly some player felt that the did Goodrow wrong.

This might just bring the team together. It could have a ripple effect thru the league when signing free agents.

- Brukie

I think the Goodrow thing caught us all by surprise.

The only way I could see it bringing the team together is if they force the firing of Drury.

Another big jump in the cap means another off-season of a MASSIVELY gassed free agency.

This might be the least interested I’ve been in a season coming up since the late 90s. You just know without watching they have zero shot to win a cup. Literally zero

You shouldn’t get frustrated with me. We have watched this core group not be good enough over the last 5 years. Now they can’t improve the roster this year. It’s basically a throw aaay year. Dallas Florida edm true contenders. Rangers a tier under.

He basically forced the rangers into a throw away year. Can’t blame he has the right just makes the season not interesting at all. They needed to improve but now they can’t

If you intend on keeping the player around, it always makes sense to lock players up before they hit the market. Just look at the cowboys!

Now that I got a minute to process all this with Trouba, heres how I feel about it…

I think Drury really fumbled the ball here with Trouba. As a GM you have to have the foresight to understand these situations. The NTC was placed specifically on this year because his wifes residency was supposed to end this year, however COVID messed it all up and extended it a year. Although this would have been a great year to plug some holes, as we saw by many of the contracts handed out, there was some serious gassing up of contracts. So when you put 2-and-2 together, to do all this with Trouba was really poorly done and completely unnecessary. It could have waited until next year when we really would have needed it.

COVID didn't mess up her residency --- she got pregnant!

I understand you feel that way about the core of the team but why can’t Laf continue his upward trajectory to stardom? Why can’t guys like Schneider, Miller, Cuyle, & Kakko take the next steps in their development? I think we are underestimating the youth of this team. I think we will have another year of competing for the Metro and once we get in you have no idea what can happen. So much pessimism on here and don’t feed me the realistic bullshyt. This team was the best team in the NHL last season. I know the flaws they have and also know the strengths. Florida exposed us big time at 5v5 but I think a lot can happen between now and the Trade Deadline this coming season as well for us to improve in that area

We werent the best team in the NHL last season, the team that raises the Stanley Cup is the one that gets that title.

I happen to think the future is bright. Just don’t think this team can make enough changes to be a top 10 5v5 this season and be a true contender. They’ll finish top 3 in the metro but are they good enough to be Dallas, edm, Florid? I’ll be watching every game but my expectations and excitement are low.

Best regular season team but not a true contender yet. Really needed to make some changes this season.

Just going back for a moment to Anthony Duclair.

This is a guy who was healthy scratched for Florida two years ago in playoffs and was healthy scratched by the Sharks last year.

Anyone advocating for the Rangers to sign him for Goodrow money for 4 years, when all we have is good young wingers in the pipeline is a dumb mother (frank)er
