I wanted the fancy stat guru from CAR, Tultsty, to get the GM job but always thought Danny would take the path of least resistance and hire KD. .. Very much loved he worked his way up from ground zero and climbed the ladder on merit not name recognition or nepotism. And he climbed a long way as KD himself is pointing out.

A great story and example.

Years back I had a German Shepard Huskie who would run up the stairs and hide in a closet when the fireworks went off.
- bjphawkfan

I had a blue eyed Shepard/Huskie mix for 14 yrs. She was a 100 lb beast but did ok with fireworks. I now have had my 2nd Husky/Shepard mix for 11 yrs, he was 3 and 42 lbs when I got him, and he's petrified. ... But, last night he showed he's getting too old to even worry about anything but still went in his "tent" the wife builds for him.

Thru twitter have read horror stories though. Dogs running thru picture windows to "escape". ...... Just a good idea to give Fido extra attention when the booming ariel bombs start.

Depth. Gonna need 9 Dmen to get thru an NHL season most times and the cap gives guys like Menga, who have taken NHL shifts, a spot.

Mighta been you, VAbear, who said more NCAA kids end up not going to the team that drafted them than do the Russians. Indeed......... I like Greene, saw him play live a handful of times in the USHL and a bunch of streamed games. A kinda solid IQ guy who plays smoothly and has skilled hands and feet. 200 ft guy, always has been.

Him going back to BU for his junior yr is concerning to me to an extent. A reminder he hasn't signed yet and indeed, as you pointed out during the Russian conversation, some NCAA players do not play for the team who drafted them.

No deal breaker but it adds another yr of doubt as Greene gets closer to being a FA.

Like his confidence though, he is leaving about $3 mil. On the table for 3 years

If he wants to win he’ll leave something on the table. That also provides incentive for guys down the line to take a little less. Nothing wrong with the top players or free agents getting full or modified NMC’s, it’s when journeymen players get them there’s a problem.

The time will come when the "kids" will start getting paid. As Hawks fans we know how tricky, and dangerous, that can be. ........ I never blame a guy for wanting to get paid but if the top dog takes a bit less it sets, or can set, a culture. A kinda selflessness and team first culture.

We saw that in TB thru a few superstars over there. I'm watching Bedard's payday apprehensively for various reasons.

Some kids really really love the college experience and don't rush the developmental process and quite frankly hockey isn't the overriding factor in their life. I've found these kinds are the most mature.

But yea, kid has the confidence to bet on himself.

Saw this on armchair gm on capfriendly.com so I thought it was interesting proposal.
Reichel and 2nd for Shane Wright. I don't think it would happen but it was interesting imo. Two young players struggling to fine their way in the NHL

I check Bamford every day. IMO he coughs the most content and links of all the sites. Today, post draft, he ranked his top 25 Hawk prospects. Some interesting takes but for me the most is Commesso ranked 17!! https://www.bleachernatio...gs-post-nhl-draft-update/

I just don't get AHL streams but watched him with The Program and thru BU but always loved the kid's approach and style. Nice and slow at major programs with very good numbers and stats wise a fine first yr pro season.

He will be the guy getting first crack at the #1 3 yrs from now and he's passing every test. Not sure where I have him ranked but a lot higher than 17.

And, IMO Bamford is correct in that Lardis has the most goal scoring prowess in the system. Kid has some Guentzel in him. Reading, darting and gets it off in a blink.

Well I hope for the day the Hawks have salary cap issues because they have to pay to keep their good players. Not enamored with the last 2 years with overpaid veterans to get to the cap floor

It’s like when my boss complains how much tax he has to play. I just tell him don’t make so much money.

For sure, having cap troubles means you have good players, generally speaking, but it doesn't have to mean cap hell. I think there's a difference or more importantly hopefully KD does and how to avoid it.

Conversations for Hawks fans in a few yrs.

Is Buffalo not all that high on Savoie? On paper, it seems like a why help out Edmonton like that kind of trade, without knowing any other particulars.

Yeah I'm not so sure about this ranking IMO. I do like Lardis, he has a scoring touch and some people thought he was as good or better skater than Oliver Moore in his draft class.

This is just my opinion, but I can't see Levshunov as not being #1 on the list and I personally would rank Boisvert ahead of Hayes and Greene.

This is interesting and at face value might look to favor EDM. I watched Savoie play a yr in the USHL and he was good but didn't blow me away. At 5ft 10 in all he does is put up big points in 2 Major Jr yrs. https://www.eliteprospect...yer/476028/matthew-savoie

I had forgotten how young McLeod is. He's 24 yrs old. Showed a helluva game this yr with EDM. 6ft 3in, 210 the dude can fly, will hit, straight to the dirty areas, full on motor and compete and is showing some prowess around the net. Maybe a final 50ish pt piece kinda guy on a L2? https://www.eliteprospect...player/271502/ryan-mcleod

Something a bit off in BUF. With all that high draft pick talent that's playing just fine in the NHL, an absolutely loaded blueline and yet they don't win....... Maybe it's a 1st rate destroyer with speed and hunger they need in McLeod?
