It’s not so much his play, it was a bit, but it was more the hype. I was expecting more I think, especially with all the chatter and the streak, etc.
- Woderwick

I watched most of his games this year and agree. His stats and hype were somewhat buoyed by the quality of teammates he had.

He was the best player on the team, led in scoring both regular season and playoffs. Character kid with fire in his belly. I think he'll surprise you.

He was 2nd in points and 3rd in goals, but likely would have led them in scoring had he not missed time for the WJC. Nothing will surprise me unless he is a 100 pt guy. I just think Leaf Nation needs to temper their expectations.

I think the Leafs have had their best offseason since drafting Matthews.

I've personally cooled off on trying to move Marner and think that we should resign him next year, and use JT's cap space to find some help at center.

One step at a time.

Tree has basically addressed the gaps in our D with Tanev and OEL, so the urgency to move Marner for D help has subsided.

That really depends on the ask I guess. Maybe the trade rumours have him thinking he can be playing for another team. At least he knows the Leafs might just walk away if he asks for too much.

At worst, you have MM and JT's cap space to play with on July 1st although it would be foolish to spend it all.

Personally, I think a fine upstanding hockey person should step up and denounce the blatant misuse of LTIR, and contracts intended to circumvent it should be penalized.

I didn’t expect knies to be able to take the puck to the net the way he does. He makes it look easy.

Once he fully realises how much stronger he is than most people, he's gonna be an animal.

He's already getting penalties because guys skate into him and get obliterated.

I have no clue, either, but insofar as I'm aware they're registering the contract - and I think yesterday Treliving made it sound like he wasn't concerned. He had an arthroscopic procedure a couple of months ago - the medical reports would have been provided to the teams, so we'll see.

People talk about Klingberg - but the Leafs knew he was playing with pain and they knew about the existing condition - they just didn't think it would end his season.

Someone here told me this wasn’t going to happen when I suggested it may.

I forget who it was but it happened.

Seattle tired of Utah getting all the “new team” attention! Lol

The answer is simple. Winterpeg can't attract FA's. So you trade them a player with term (Leafs got 2 they don't need), Robertson (since he asked for a trade), and a pick for McGroarty.

Who cares if it's an "overpay" for a guy that was just drafted a year ago. It helps both teams. Winterpeg gets a couple roster players (one still really young that can score) and another draft pick. And only give up a prospect that apparently doesn't even wanna be there. And the Leafs get rid of a player that asked for a trade and get a good young prospect that for some reason grew up a Leafs fan.

McGroaty would be a great add to the Leafs. Leafs are pretty thin on draft picks, if it could be done for Robertson plus another player or two he would fit in nicely. He's the kind of player that would make Skalapy forget he ever heard of poon Jenner.

Yes and he knew Montour was going to be a stud, and Reinhart a 57 goal scorer and Verghage and and and.

The point is he threw a lot of darts and enough hit to win.

- jribout

Montour was good in anaheim
Reinhart was a 25 goal scorer and getting better.
Verhaeghe was fast, had good hands and pretty much got better each year of career

So he was arms length away from said dart board

He led the team in playoff points
Was 2nd in reg season points
3rd in goals....he had a whole 2 less goals than the leader....oh and he played 9 games less than both the leader and 2nd in scoring.

Not sure who buoyed who but any game i watched he was the best on the team

Holy franking poop on a shingle at dawn it's Towelie Adidas. I wish I never saw these. They're almost 300 bucks. I want to erase my memory. I'm coveting this really stupid thing to buy. But these shoes (frank)ing rule. They come with red eyes on Towelie also!

I'd see if Winnipeg would be interested in Niemelä and the rights to Robertson.
