Really, ROR calls up the GM in the summer and tells him who to acquire? I'm skeptical about that. - Zezel
Barry Trotz definitely seems like the type of guy to take a phone call from a player telling him to begin expensive trade negotiations for a guy said player knew for a few months.

Yeah, the greatest strategic sports mind known to history needs to get ideas from some goof who can't handle people recognizing him on the street.

I wish I could claim credit for it. I coined Derpluzzi and Smeg Belubeh but I'm just repeating Hawkentua who apparently has a bone on bone issue. - Zezel
First time I saw that video, someone had chopped it up to make it look like she was describing how to clean off your pitching wedge after a shot.
I had no context, so I thought it was just a funny golf video.
Then for the next few days I saw pop culture going ape-poop over it, and was completely bewildered why the world was so infatuated with a funny but not particularly interesting golf tip.

I've never even seen the video, I'm gonna see how long I can avoid it.

Im sure kyper exaggerated a bit.
But i could definitely see a player mentioning another player to their gm in a conversation.
Something like "this guy is a really good player and would be a great add etc"....but nothing like "hey you should trade for him"

Do any of you nerds play that new Assassin's Creed game set in feudal Japan? I'm a samurai enthusiast and that's one thing that could potentially entice me to play video games again. Or are there other sandbox RPG samurai games. If they made a Lone Wolf and Cub game how rad would that be.

Sega Genesis NHLPA 92. If you made eye contact with 99 you got a penalty. It was so (frank)ing realistic. - Zezel
But, that deke move though. Most wins were by double-digit margins against the computer. Playing two players with a buddy and both of us would end up with 10+ goals. It wasn't realistic, but it was fun.

Just bashing the puck into the net was always good. The Red Wings roster was savage.

For 93 and 94, there was the greatest cheat move ever:
If your team was on the bottom, and the bench was off to the left, and the faceoff was on the left circle, you could pull your goalie just before the puck dropped.
If you timed it well (wasn't that hard), your goalie would skate towards the bench, and push the opposing centre back, guaranteeing you win the faceoff. You would then quickly put your goalie back in, and clear the zone.
