If they miss the playoffs again, do any bells go off to the peeps higher up than "Hilf"?
The first 3 would have set them up nicely in theory. They could have still had Jett as well imo. - hello it's me 2050
So tanking or play-offs next year? What's the objective?

It's a new era of Black and Orange! Really though, it's the same old same old with just new people. But hey, according to Hilferty, it's beautiful to see how they work together. - MJL
Oh yes:
“Collaboration” is the the word of the new era of Orange |

Saw this on Jordan Halls piece and had to laugh at the part that said Torts is tough but fair.
"When I told Torts, he was really excited," Briere said. "And that's one of the things that I'm most excited about, too — the chance for Matvei to learn from a coach like Torts. I know he's going to coach him the right way, just like he does everybody else. He's going to be tough on him, he's going to be fair and he's going to teach him the right way." - bird_dog_pa
I betcha behind closed doors he’s been told not to treat Michkov like he treated Brink (yelling at him like a child), like Frost (yo-yo), and Farabee (sit your a$$ on the bench for the rest of this game), and Coots (you may be the captain but I don’t have to tell you why you’re scratched even though you’re playing hurt and we all know it).

If the team is afraid of making MM cry they should trade him. |

Not sure the flyers even now what the objective is, they are not tanking IMO. |

If I was a player and had him as a coach I’m pretty sure I would tell Torts to f himself if he was out of line. Yell here and there fine I’m no snowflake but if it’s not a valid criticism I’m going right back at you.
We know Torts loves that stuff. You, have to give respect to get respect. |

I think the line of thinking is be tough but be honest and fair. The guys are young adults so no need for the head games Torts pulls. Leave that stuff to the women. |

I remmeber exchanging commiserations with you after the Union lost the MLS cup finals. In case you watch soccer, the match of the UEFA tourney, Spain-Germany, is today at noon. - PT21

Took some notes from development camp this morning. I attended from around 9:45-11:00ish.
Jett Luchanko looks very quick and showed some skill during drills but overall looked a bit uncomfortable to me.
Denver Barkey looks really skilled but is very small. Good hands.
Alex Ciernik is noticeably fast and has a very accurate shot.
Noah Powell was a player who stood out to me for his energy and hands.
Santeri Sulku is huge. He can really snipe the puck and skates very well for a big guy. He stood out to me the most for basically the entire 90- minutes I was there. He seems very mobile and every time he shot or passed it had real purpose.

The Germans are as always, solid and technically the best. The revelation has been the Spanish team. Very young (one rising star is 16!) and playing with tremendous flair, they are very imaginative but often not tall enough to defend the headers on crosses sent into their own box. Their ability to do that is what will determine the match imo. |

One day, maybe. We will see accountability to the men who treat this organization like a play thing to maintain some bastardized view of outdated philosophies.

I'd bet he hasn't been and even if he was, he's not going to listen. He is not going to change at this point in time.

What I would like to know is what Comcast thinks is gonna happen when these boomer fans start aging out of going to games. I’m pushing 40 and can’t fathom spending money on this franchise.
Who comes in after Briere and Jones get the boot? Simmonds and Giroux? Yeah, not supporting that either. - hereticpride
Comcast-Spectacor is already pivoting hard toward e-sports. Each successive generation gives less and less (frank)s about traditional sports. |

They will change then, possibly earlier, as any business would. Why do you think they wouldn't?
Also, I am stupefied you are "pushing 40." The gravitas of your online persona had made me think you are pushing 60. - PT21
The problem is by the time you want those younger fans to spend money on the team they will already be spending money on something else or some other team. It will be almost impossible to get fans to convert if they are happy spending money elsewhere.
Corporate graveyards are filled by companies to slow to respond to change. Sears, KMart, etc. Blockbuster used to be the big name in video rental. Netflix even tried to sell themselves to Blockbuster but Blockbuster laughed Netflix out of the room.

It's possible Buium is the Flyers Netflix but unlike Blockbuster even the worst mismanagement won't result in the team shutting down, just a new PR campaign. |

In their misguided heads, they’ll think they are challenging for a playoff spot. But this is a bottom 10 and, with a little luck, a bottom 5 roster. They will finish somewhere in the 75-85 point range. |

Drysdale has played 24 games as a Flyer. Give it time.
