Who was a top 4 RD available at the start of free agency. And the revisionist history on Hronek is hysterical. He was a decent but very frustrating player with the wings.

Pesce, Montour, Tanev and Matt Roy were available and all upgrades over the garbage the Wings have.

Hronek wasn't perfect but a hell of lot better than having Petry or Holl in the top 4. It's a lot easier to find a top 4 LD than it is to find a top 4 RHD. Proof of that is the Wings haven't found one to replace Hronek and are pinning all their hopes on ASP 2 or 3 years from now. They have nothing else in the system that projects as a top 4 RHD.

Maybe the Wings have some Trouba trouble before the end of the month!

I would think he refused to waive his NMC to go to the Wings before July 1st and he probably put all the teams with cap space on his no trade list which would include the Wings. At this point i think he stays in New York for another year and by next summer i hope to hell the Wings still don't need him or Yzerman failed big time and the Wings missed the playoffs for the 9th year in a row.
