Woooow - Buffalo--Sabres
Not a great story, but is it unforgivable from a 19 year old kid?

If a #9 developed into a 25 point defensive 3C, you'd be disappointed.
It's a little odd after drafting a lower ceiling, higher floor, close to NHL ready, projected 3C a week earlier.
I'm just assuming they felt they had to move Savoie this summer. - Lunaion
Is what it is, but hell Colton went for a 2nd last off-season. |

Is he sick of his shoulder being jerked around? - DirtyDan
Whose shoulder would win in a fight? Savoie's or Martin Riggs' from Lethal Weapon? |

Can always move 1 of Tage Cozens to the wing if Helenius or Ostlund or Wahlberg look to be a better centerman. Or if you think Tage or Cozens are better suited for the wing.

To try to throw a teammate under the bus? Something you are taught not to do in peewees that he still hasn’t learned? Idk, clearly was for Adams and co. Time will tell. |

If this is all true about last off-season, then I don't blame Adams for moving him. Just the timing it happened |

Be careful what you read from the self proclaimed insiders on here. Who knows what the story is, but that isn't what I recall hearing. |

checked myself on that zegras buffalo thing, it's definitely true. and it was a pivot from ehlers.
I don't usually find out about stuff like this until it's hot and heavy, not just a Conversation™ |

Well, no, I wouldn't. Outside of the top 5, it becomes more of a crap shoot. You might get Tyson Jost or Alex Nylander - those are disappointments. But a 3C with ridiculous wheels, defensive ability (including PK) and some offense? There is no shame in that. You hope for more, but are happy with a good 3C at #9.
It was interesting to hear Gerbe say that he is also in the mix to be a captain. I believe he said that they see him as the new Gaustad. |

heard nothing about it except from stripes.
only reason he played a few minutes that night was cause his parents were there. absolutely bizarre to play him for a few minutes then ship him right back. they had no obvious reason to do so.

And unless you’re elite in the pros, being labeled a bad teammate usually is one of the things not forgiven. Evander Kane is prime example of this. How much has he gone for in trades? poopty human and teammate, elite hockey player. |

For some reason Savoies value has dropped significantly around the league.
Teams see something they don’t like in his game I guess. Time will tell. - ImThatGuy
This is a great point. Not all negotiations and deals are based on surface information. There are a lot of details that will lead you to a point to make decision.
Acquiring a position of need for someone that has performed very well in Juniors. Overpay? Maybe, but that is yet to be determined.
Maybe Helenius made Savoie available? |

That’s fair, just weird how he was been handled. Something about it seems off. |

Don't need to hear anything from anyone to determine how bizarre his ice time and total stay was.
Especially considering he was "the best player in rookie camp" and his ppg pace in Rochester. |

Well, Ehlers would have too. Except they want more for less.
Zegras, you get a good price point (dollars) and RFA years.
Ehlers you get a better winger and a massive gamble considering the cost.

I think that's a lot of trying to rationalize something disappointing.
If Benson stagnates into a good two-way 3LW, no one will be happy.
If you have a top 10 pick, you think you're getting a top 6/top 4 guy. That's the best place to find them.

From what I was told: the jets wanted 4 1st round type assets for Ehlers without an extension.
Apologize for the miss typing. Not 1st line but 1st round assets
Adams said no. |
